Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Entering new territory

You know when you make time, go out specifically to look for 'That Dress' and come home empty handed? That's what happened to me yesterday. I hit the shops with a vengeance early in the morning and though I trawled up and down the whole huge shopping center with some of the best clothes shops around,  nothing was hitting me as 'The One'. It took my best friend to come to the rescue.

I was so tired when I came home after hunting for the dress then doing a huge food shop - and her and her husband and her oldest daughter landed at our door to give me my birthday prezzie. We sat, chatted and I mentioned how I had been having trouble finding something to wear to the dinner MOTH (Man of the House) and I were going out to that night. She asked if I had been to a mall at the different end of town. I hadn't so steeling myself for round two, we headed out together and within five minutes of getting there I found it. You know when you put that certain dress on and you go, "Yes! Score! This is just perfect." Well, that's what happened here. And I hit a major NSV, too!

My friend was hunting through the racks and she found the dress (she knows exactly the kinds of clothes I like AND what suits me.) She said, "What size are you again. A 14?" I went, "Uh huh." She gave me two dresses, a 12 and a 14, for 'just in case.' I put the first dress on which happened to be the 12 and it fitted perfectly. Now this is the NSV.  The dress has no room to move, a zip up the back and zero give. She was a great sport as I whooped and hugged her to death, giving me this smile and saying, "That's really really cool. You fit a 12." Thanks, Shell. You're the best friend ever!

It probably shouldn't surprise me though that I actually got into a 12. I guess I've been so used to wearing a 14 now that I when the lower size fits it still surprises me. When I was out hunting for the dress that morning I also picked up a lot of other summer clothing. And out of the dozen or so pieces I picked up, 10 of those were either a small or size 12. It's a huge thrill to finally fit into the same size clothes I did the day I got married - though I must say the body proportions are different lol.

The day ended beautifully by the lovely dinner MOTH and I had. It was so nice being just one on one.  Sometimes life gets in the way and it was fantastic to re-connect with my husband again just the two of us with nothing else getting in the way. We were sitting there eating fine food and drinking a great bottle of red and decided it was actually a nice time of life to be in. Things are getting easier - make that MUCH easier with the children now older, and money not so tight. He made a comment that stuck with me. "Did you think 18 months ago, that we would be sitting here together, you looking the way you now do which is utterly beautiful by the way (aww...) totally enjoying each others company, relaxed and enjoying life?" I can honestly say, no. I don't think I did. Life up until this point has been hard going, the same as it for everyone else. But you step back, enjoy what you now have (and for me its a new body and outlook on life) and smile. You can't help but smile. So we laughed and drank red wine and then finished the night taking a walk on the beach. Heaven.

Before I go, this is for Kristen who asked for a pic of the ring my sons got me. Super close up my hands were too confronting lol so I did a uber-close up of just the ring itself so you get an idea on what it looks like. Hope this is what you wanted, Kristen lol. x

Ring looks tight but it's not. I bent my finger to get a better shot lol

Not much happening today. Got to do some catching up around the house. The washing machine is calling me. Oh joy.

Be good, take care, speak soon
Cara xxxx

  14. Do you think it's coincidence about the weight loss, and being at a point in your life where you're really happy and content. My husband and I have the exact same kinds of moments now, and I don't think I'd feel exactly the same way if I had my weight still on. Life is good, and I'll take it!
