So it seems while this cats been away the blogging mice (s'cuse the term!!) will nominate for the 'Beautiful Blogger' award. I was so amazed that eight beautiful, special women thought enough of me to include me in this lovely accolade. Thanks so much to Catherine, Nikki, Sally, Tj, Linda, Stephanie, Angie and Camille. I'm touched beyond belief.
Then came the trouble. I don't know if I'm punchy from lack of sleep, or running like a lunatic this last week but darned if I could settle on just seven nominees of my own. I love every single blog I read... (and then came the conundrum... do I nominate 56 blogs and have to write 56 different things you might not know about me? ... I settled on just the seven - they are below......) So instead I hope you will be okay with this. It goes out to you all you girls and guys that are continuing on this daily banding ride along-side me. I honestly don't think I could have come as far as I have without the support you guys have shown me: helping me when I most need it and celebrating my wins, just as I love doing with you.
Ok so my seven things:
- I love to play online scrabble. I've been a member of the International Scrabble Club now for about 3 years and I have built myself up to mix with the big guns score wise - along with making some damn fine friends. A shout out to one especially who I love heaps. We now sms each other, email all the time and send birthday and Christmas cards. One day we hope to meet. She lives in South Africa. Kisses Mel.
- When I went to Europe years ago - we visited Sweden where MOTH (Man of the House) was born (Stockholm) and lived a portion of his life before coming to Australia. I loved seeing the little house he grew up in and the beautiful town he was once a part of. I can't wait to one day get back there. I would move to Sweden if we could. We only knew each other nine months before getting engaged (the trip was our engagement present) but it took another three and a half years before we were married.... AND we met in a nightclub. What are the chances a meeting like that would actually amount to almost 21 years of marriage?
- I almost broke my back from a horse riding accident about 10 years ago. We were trail riding and whoever did up the girth, didn't tighten it enough. Doing a full gallop along a trail the saddle slipped, I leaned left trying to hang on, the stirrup broke and I tumbled to the ground. It was a nerve wracking few hours with no feeling in my feet. I was like an old lady walking with a Zimmer frame for the next week or more as I healed. I still have trouble in the hip I disjointed.
- I used to do a writing workshop with an English author called Sherry Anne Jacobs. She also writes under Anna Jacobs (she writes historical romance.) I really enjoyed my time with her and wished we could have continued. I have met some big names in my time as a writer: Bryce Courtney (met him twice - lovely, lovely man), Jackie Collins, Shirley Conran and Jeffery Archer are just a few. I have also had contact with Harlan Coben (shameless name dropping!! lol.. love this writer with a passion. He's the best there is.)
- I used to own a mare called Almond. When she came to us she only had the name: Hey Horse (strange but true.) I was 12 and couldn't decide what to call her. I was in the bath one day and spied a bottle of almond oil my mother used to add to the bathwater when she bathed. So Almond she became.
- I have one ankle bigger than the other: a legacy from a broken bone when I was 8 years old. I slid down a huge blue elephant slippery slide and landed on a rock to the side of the trunk (the slide). I was in a cast for 8 weeks.
Two guys are out hiking. They are going up a steep, tree laden path when a snake slithers out of nowhere and bites one guy on the old feller (penis to you non-aussies lol.) The bitten guy drops to the ground, writhing in agony. He pleads to his friend, "You'll have to run and get a doctor for me. Please, be quick!" So the other guys takes off running to the nearest town. He finds the local doctor who is in the middle of delivering a baby. After explaining what's happened, the doctor says, "I can't come out right now but here's what you do. You cut a little x over the site of the bite, suck out the poison, spit then keep going until there's no more poison left. If you do that, your friend will be okay." The guy says, 'Got it!' and hotfoots it back out of town and up the path where he finds his friend still on the ground, sweating and pale with shock. His friend gasps out... "Did you find the doctor? Is he coming? What did he say?"
The other guys says, "Oh, you're gonna die."
Badda bada boom!!! That's it from me folks. Will report back on band news and my week gone by tomorrow. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Congrats! Loved learning new things about you....and ROTFLMAO (thanks for the laugh)!
ReplyDeleteHello lovely, how is school. I was in a bit of school myself this week, boot camp and I live to write about it...it's OVER!! Yeah, but i made a promise that this was a jump start, so now the real work begins! Have a wonderful weekend, thanks for sharing, loved your stories and you too doll!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha thanks for sharing all neat stuff about yourself.
ReplyDeleteLoved to read your fun facts about yourself and the joke cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteLove your "7"! Great to read your post and know that you are alive and kicking and that school has not kicked your butt!
ReplyDeleteLove your 7 Cara - you are such an interesting and kind person.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun reading your 7 facts - and how Aussie was your joke?!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love romance novels (ever heard of Judith McNaught? she's one of my faves). :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that joke was cute! :)
Great to hear from you...I have missed you. Congrats on all those awards and I loved hearing your facts although you tend to break a few too many bones....be careful
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award, Cara! Glad you won b/c I loved reading your 7! You sound a bit accident-prone however!!! Now I'm going to be worrying about you. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou'd asked about why I don't have my blog name listed on my profile. Let me explain. I have 2 active blogs (& then those non-active ones that I have the names reserved for).
The reason I don't have my band blog listed (& somehow you happened upon my other one), is that I haven't shared with almost anybody about my decision to have the band. If I list it, my other friends will find out & I'm not ready for that yet. Sorry you had trouble finding it. I always sign my posts & comments with my blog name linked for that reason. Until I'm outed, I don't know how else to do that.
I'm sure glad you're my band-friend though!
So, go check out my band blog!
Blessings,
Robin at Band on the Run
Cara, I see now why you couldn't find it. Your links don't change colour. You can click on the "Band on the Run" beside my name & it'll take you to my band blog.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should change that in your settings. I'll bet you're missing a lot of interesting links!? xo
