One of the biggest questions - for me because I have wondered a bit - is why our band can be so tight in the morning and yet loosen off during the day, with or without great restriction. I will try and simplify it (as he used a few technical terms and I couldn't remember them to save my life anyway lol.) There are cells in our which contain water (duh! Human bio 101 I hear you say...) and when we are supine or prone overnight, this water (a more technical term for water was used - but its a combination of things in the body) will 'pool' in our upper half.. often settling in our extremities and around our stomachs. As the day progresses and gravity does its work, this 'water' eventually settles in our lower half (hence having swollen feet sometimes) and it slackens off from around our bands. It's really as simple as that.
Also he had no answers regarding why our bodies plateau. Apparently, there haven't been too many studies done on it so they don't really know why it happens. It just does. But he told me to keep an eye on my clothes (loose, tight) as to a good indication of loss, anyway. Been there, done that lol.....and I responded by telling him of my drop in sizes a few weeks ago. Oh, which by the way.. I'm most def in all 14's now. Bottoms and tops. I went and grabbed a few tops to wear to this course of mine - and as I peruse I have to say I feel like a bit of a fraud - what if all the 14's (size 10's USA) don't fit? Am I going to have to exchange them all for the next size up? But no.. every single top I tried on (in four different stores) fit in the 14's AND get this.. I found this gorgeous little black, short sleeved fitted cardigan to wear over the top of a cami or something similar....size? ... extra small!!! WHAT THE?????... Admittedly, while the buttons can be done up, they do gape - so for now I will wear it undone over the top of a little cami or something: Don't want to give anyone a fright with flashing lol. I also think it must be a 'big' XS.. because no way am I that size. I figure though whatever the number it won't be too long (says she who really can't seem to shift more weight right now!!) before I CAN do up the buttons so it will never go to waste.
So anyway, Dr Hill must have been practicing like a madman on his fills. It didn't hurt a bit - not for a second. He says it's because I have less covering (i.e tummy fat) and I said he had been doing so many now so he's better at it and he grinned and and said let's split the difference. Sounds good to me. Whatever it was, it was a great fill, and he left it up to me whether to even get it done. I felt like it was time (it's been over 2 months since my last.) I have as of today 5.8 mls (cc's) in my band and I can already feel the difference. Whooo. My next appointment isn't until April. He claims I'm a good little bandit and since I more or less follow the rules, he doesn't need to see me before then. Oh, and I have to book in for a blood test (blech!) to check and make sure I'm not vitamin deficient or anything. Good times.
'Kay, think that's it from this end. Hope you all had a fantastic Monday (If there is such a thing?)...
Seeya soon (hopefully!!) xxx

Sounds good! Doc Watson and Bowater explained the same theory to me on the morning restriction. I find I can't even have my iced coffee til at least 9.30am.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being fully 14 :) - the buttons on the cardy will stop gaping in no time I'm sure. Have to get my butt moving - you're rapidly catching up to me hahaha!
Hey Cara .. congrats. glad to see you got your post up.. Good news on the fill.. let us know how that works for you.. I am still trying to figure out the late kick in for tightness for me.. Its on the top of my question list for my next fill on Feb 22.. have a super day and enjoy your class.
ReplyDeleteGreat Cara! Thanks for sharing and good luck starting today.. tell us all about it...
ReplyDeleteThat is so interesting about morning restriction vs. evening restriction ... thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see clothes fitting better even if the numbers don't compute. Do you start school soon?
ReplyDeleteAn extra small....wow....just saying that is awesome!
ReplyDeletea little squirt...a fill...is someone didnt know our terminology...it sounds kinda dirty :)
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting about your docs explanation of why we are tighter in the morning. It just goes to show how the smallest of things can make a big difference!
I hope this little baby fill holds you for awhile!
OK. Me bad. I didn't read your first post about school until just now. Ignore me. I'm carb deprived.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information. I find that I'm more restricted at the end of the day lately, which is totally backwards!! Oh well, never normal!
ReplyDeleteHOpe this fill "fills" you up and works good for you!

Good luck with the school and the new restriction!!

ReplyDeleteCara- I hope class went well today! I'm so excited for you start this new career. You'll do so great.
ReplyDeleteI've got a fill on Thursday and think I'll ask for the same-.25cc. I need a little, but I'll scared to do to much.
Take care!
Congrats on the clothes. I am glad you are feeling more restricted....lets hope for movement on the scales
ReplyDeleteOh that was good to hear. Am going for a fill on Sunday and I am just going to have .50 cc's. Am up to 7 right now and losing restriction, but, I don't want a full cc- something about getting close to the high end freaks me out!
ReplyDeleteWow look at you Skinny Gal!!! There will be some weight loss, I don't think you've plateaued just yet.
B
(Okay I hate how UK/Aus sizes don't match up with US sizes and vice versa, why can't they all standardize!!!!!!)
Where's my Dashy??? Hope you are well, I'm alittle buggered b/c of a blog situation, but don't worry, I won't be closing out. Just sucks when someone thinks I'm mean and preachy- and then I am compelled to be mean back. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteWhatever.
I need some Cara-style positive posts! Come out and play.
V
