Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

A nifty little lunch date - and added hunger

The gorgeous Emma from http://mysocalledlapbandlife.blogspot.com/ and I caught up in Fremantle for lunch yesterday. We had a good gabfest - talking for around 20 minutes before we even thought to order. She looks good - but then she always does. Emma thoughtfully brought her laptop with her too so we were able to go through all her wedding photos from when she got married a couple of months ago. I loved them and she looked so beautiful.

Emma also came armed with a couple of pairs of jeans for me that she no longer wants. Both are in a 14 AND the brand shows me that they are both from a shop that tends to run to small sizings.. aka if you are normally a 14 you can bet the jeans you try on are more a size 12. Though I'm not in size 12's yet (that's a US 8) across the board, I am getting closer. I have a few size 12's in my closet now and one piece, a jumper, I hadn't even realised was that size until I got home and tried it on again lol. After parting several hours later, Emma went one way and I went shopping. I got a pair of black flat shoes to wear when I wear my skirt and leggings and I found a gorgeous white top in Suzanne's (a clothes shop here.) That one I got in a medium without even trying on and when I got home and tried it, it was too big. Ha! I also hit this cute little accessory shop that sells earrings and bangles and bracelets and loaded up as it was all 70 percent off. Bonus!

And here I can talk all I want about clothes sizing, but unless I start to get my hunger under control it won't be too big a stretch to get right back into a size up. I have noticed that both my hunger levels and the amount of food I can eat have upped. Which is a pity - as I was in such a great spot just a few weeks ago. For lunch Emma ordered a Greek salad and I had a chicken Caesar. Granted the meal wasn't huge but I still managed to pick through most of the dish over an hour or so. Also, has anyone noticed how some foods that they used to love pre-band just doesn't cut it any more? I remember when I was 'bigger' I used to love nothing more than going down to the little bakery down the road on a Sunday morning to pick up the Sunday newspaper, fresh OJ and a croissant.

Anyway, I walked down, got my OJ, and a croissant, not even sure if I could actually eat it, being a pastry and all then found I could - sigh - and the half I ate went down no problems. Only thing is, the way I prepared it (also pre-band thinking here.. naughty) spreading it with real butter and marmalade, was actually quite tasteless. I don't know what was with that? I threw the other half away. Unheard of!

I remember saying to Emma yesterday also that I had been pretty lucky. I have been eating so much crap lately that I was amazed it hadn't shown up on the scale. I was holding steady going neither up nor down. That was yesterday though. This morning I'm up a half kilo. Figures. I really have to start paying attention to those bandit rules again. I'm a total rule breaker at the moment. It's on the to-do list. Bring myself back into line with my eating or go in a get another squidge of fill.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have had a great one.. movie Friday night with girlfriend (we saw Sex in the City 2, totally over the top but it was fun) lunch with Emma yesterday and today a nice quiet one at home due to MOTH (Man of the House) whipping the boys away down south for the night to take them rock fishing. Ahhh, peace reigns in the household - at least for a few more hours.

Till next time

  2. So glad to here that you and Emma had a lovely lunch together Cara!

About your band issues, I would only be worried if you WERE following he band rules and not losing. Once you get back on the "band wagon" you will drop those last few kilo's and get to your goal.

You are still a band rockstar in my opinion!

  3. Sounds like you had a great weekend. I just had a look at your weight-loss ticker and you are just a smidge away from goal. That's fantastic!

BTW - Thanks for the link to your hair care post, it was very helpful. I'm going to do all that I can to minimize the problem. Sigh!

  4. Wow! has your page been brilliant.... i had banding on the 9th June and have been finding it incredibly hard finding decent info on people who have been through what a lap bander is to expect. THANK YOU for your blog it has been a saviour!
I hope i can do it.... this liquid thing is driving me up the wall!
Im considering starting a blog to vent some frustrations.
Im currently having a few issues breathing and it feels like someone is stepping on my chest. I hope this is normal.
THanks so much for all the info you have done so well!

  5. Size 8 Cara!!! That is fantastic. You and I are so similar, it cracks me up. I go to the same place every weekend to get my iced coffee for breakfast and I find myself eyeing the blueberry crumb muffins. I have a feeling that after I finish my coffee I wouldn't have a problem eating it (around noon, when I'm not so tight). I keep telling myself "I'm going to get one just to see if I can eat it". But each time I don't do it. I think I'm afraid that I'll indeed be able to eat it with no issues and then bam, I'm buying one every weekend with my coffee!!

  8. I can't even imagine ever fitting into a size 8. The smallest size as an adult I've ever been is squeezing into a 10. Congratulations!
