Today I head back to my normal GP. It's almost an hour after I was due in for my appointment and I keep ringing the surgery to see how many people he has to see before me.... looks like he's still currently sitting on two more before I even get a look in, lol. That's how popular this guy is.
I'm wondering what he's going to say? Last time he saw me was just over 12 months ago. He wrote out the referral that I needed to get in to see Dr Couch (don't know what it's like elsewhere - but here in Oz, when you see a specialist doctor you first have to have a referral from your normal GP before you can see the new one.... did that make sense?)
Anyway, will he be surprised? Happy for me? I will bet it's both as he was full of encouragement at my original appointment all those months ago when I told him I was going to get lap-band surgery. Not a negative word was said: and it helped he knew Dr Couch and what a great doctor he is.
On other news, I have finally lost that 1.6 pounds I put on and just this morning saw 75.4 kilos flash up on the scale before it settled 100 grams higher. Ack. Still - I have been a model bandster today, lots of water, and only good, protein filled foods. I knew I was sitting on a good weight even before I stepped on the scale first thing - I could feel it. I felt kinda thin. Always a good way to feel first thing in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow I will be a little more down and if I'm lucky I might even see a 74 something. Wouldn't that be something? Then it's just a matter of a couple of pounds before I hit goal. Come on down 73.3!! Whoooo!!
Footnote: My son Jake HAD broken his hand.. and now sports a lovely half cast on his right arm. He fractured his finger just behind the last knuckle above the palm... ouch!! Kids!
The story goes: he was mucking around on a copper log... fell off, and it wasn't until he got up off the ground .. rather sheepishly... that his friend who he was walking to school with went, "Oh jeez, Jake. Check out your hand." My son looks down and goes, "Oh, crap." He's dislocated his little finger. He goes to school... and another friend who's had a lot of dislocated fingers due to skateboard riding went, "I can fix that."..... so he did. He put it back in place.... makes me shudder to think about it. And we wonder why us mothers get gray hair?
Hope you all had a great weekend,
Till next time

I'm sure your doctor may even give you a big hug!!! My GP was very supportive of the band too. I have lost 27 pounds since I saw him couple of months ago. I am looking forward to the day when I see him too. Good luck, you have done exceptionally well!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that it has been a year since you have needed to see your doctor. I bet it was alot shorter period of time between visits before you were banded.
ReplyDeleteI have already noticed how much healthier I feel. Hopefuly I don't get a cold now that I have voiced that theory.
Knock on wood....
Wonderful news, Cara! Congrats on feeling thin. :) I know your doctor will be pleased to see your progress, and I am sorry to hear your son will have to wear a cast. That should slow him down for a while... Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHey Cara- your doc will be THRILLED, so exciting to go and see him and give the great news in person.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all of your wonderful progress. You've earned the stunned and happy look that you will get from your doc!
Enjoy!!
He will be so happy for you Cara! He probably won't even recognize you though.
ReplyDeleteSorry your little guy is in a cast! Boys will be boys though, right? Actually, I got into more trouble, broken bones etc. than the boys in my family!
Oy! Kids.
ReplyDeleteLet us know what your GP says. I'm sure he'll be ecstatic!
Your doc will be proud. Because he knows the hard work it took to get where you are. Didn't one of your boys break something a while back. I remember a cast. Same son? or a different one?
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone above, how could your doctor not be thrilled! My PCP was very excited for me as well, I can't wait to see her for a follow up! I think a high five or two will be in order! =)
ReplyDeleteAlso, you look absolutely STUNNING in your before and after pics below!! Good lord woman, you kinda remind me of a young Helen Mirren!
ReplyDeleteJust checking to make sure I'm following you... I'm larahalsey2003, and there's a chance people don't know it's me.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear your doctor's reaction...
