Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Questions and answers and trips down south.....

Yesterday - on the spur of the moment - MOTH and I packed up the two younger kids (and a tag along, one of Jake's friends - and headed back down to Busselton again. I was afraid it wouldn't be as good as the first time we did it a few weeks ago, you know, when you try to recreate a good time and find it a wash out but I'm happy to report, it was just as good. And I have decided I really like these trips. I have a captive audience in MOTH and because he's trapped (in the car) there's nothing to distract him and we talk... I mean really talk. About our future, about whatever is going on at the moment and I love it. Apparantely, so does he. We are connecting more than ever and hey, in this busy world, if two people connect you can't ask for much more than that. Or so I think anyway.

We pottered around on the block and the kids ran amock then we headed down to the beachfront. It was just going in to dusk by then - quite cool with lots of fog around (something I don't ever remember seeing down there before) but down by the jetty it was just magical. I took some snaps.. the first is the gorgous sunset over the beach and the second is this lovely gift shop they have sitting on the jetty (though the jetty is closed down as it undergoes repairs right now) I love the look of this little building.. it's quite pretty. We then headed back into town for some dinner (I wanted to try somewhere new but was outvoted lol... so we ended up at that same little Chinese Restaurant from a few weekends ago.) This time I was careful to drink BEFORE I ate (I forgot that little nugget of vital importance last time..oops) but I find I can still put away a fair amount if I let myself.

Which brings me to the next part of this post. Linda (a fellow blogger) asked about this fill I had, so darl, this is for you :) When I went in for my second fill I had one ml put in bringing me to a total of 3 mls. But... I still have no restriction. I can still eat quickly if I want (but because I'm mindful of this... I try not to) and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat, everything goes down (bar bread, I haven't tried this yet.) I do find I'm not ravenously hungry for the most part but when it's time to eat I have to control how much I do because I think I could get down way more than I'm supposed to. I really was hoping this fill would restrict me a bit but I don't think it has. And I have a month's wait before the next one so.... blahh, I will - again - have to use self control.

Lady Lapband: I did end up naming my band Portia lol. Before I was banded I noticed people like Amy had a name for her band (and since then I have found a few more who have done the same thing) I thought it was pretty cool, so I wracked my brain and this is the name I came up with. I must admit, I don't use it in company it's mostly in my head but I think I might be coming around. It's a team effort this losing weight, so Portia and I are on the job! She better not slack off (like she is now..) or there will be hell to pay!! How do you belt a band? hmmm lol

Think that's it for me. Oh actually, I quick question! I drink my coffee from a normal sized mug. It's probably a touch bigger than 250 mls (a cup). Is that normal or should I be downsizing my cup? I love my coffee and only have two or three a day with skim milk but what I'm asking about is more the volume. Any input would be appreciated ;)

That's it for me today. I'm off to clean this very messy house....yuck. Where's a maid when you need them!

Chow for now

  1. Cara- great pictures, the South looks beautiful. Thanks for the fill answer- I am with you, no restriction, can eat anything(I have tried bread). I go again Thursday- I'm hoping for 2 more cc's (which is the same as a ml- looked it up), which would take me to 7cc's. I think I'm dreaming though.
As far as the coffee goes, I still drink from a regular size mug- I figure it will go right through, so no worries.
    Have a good week!!

  3. The South looks so peaceful!

I know what you mean about getting a man's undivided attention (as sweet as he is, mine probably does not realize I'm there at all when his fav football team is playing :) ).

And on that subject, what is MOTH? Dumb quesion, I'm sure, but I was trying to figure that out yesterday when I was walking/jogging and couldn't for the life of me. So I wore myself out from both physical AND mental exertions! :)

  4. Cara -the cc/ml thing is just one of our lovely cultural differences. :)I just figured I should know if you were saying 2ml's, but it was really like 4 cc's.

  5. Cara, you look so pretty in your new photos!! And, I can see a difference already! That is so nice about you and MOTH spending more time having in-depth chats and getting even closer than ever. Your vacation spot looks gorgeous as well -- I loved the photos!

  6. Cara - I love the name of your band!!! I think you and Amy have inspired me to name mine as well. I think I'll have to wait until I've got her though...if she's a total wench, she'll need a sassy name of sorts, if I love her...well that's just a different name altogether! Hope you're able to get through this next month without too much of a fight!

Thanks for the words of support. Went to my PCP this morning and he thinks I have bronchitis. JEEZ!! So I'm on superantibiotic for 3 days. Hope to knock it out before pre-surgical testing on Thursday!
