Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

What a fantastic weekend!

MOTH (Man of the House) and I have had possibly the best weekend we've had in ages. It's so rare we get away for some one on one time and this past two days we spent 24/7 together. The two middle boys were away for the Saturday night and then Mitchell offered to watch Riley and all that entailed if MOTH and I wanted to use the time to escape. So we did. We ran...... lol.

We ended up down south in Busselton. Where our farm is. But we didn't go down to stay there. We actually decided to put the time to good use and do some hunting around for property areas for when the time comes and we leave here to go live there. My family is really familiar with the place having traveled back and forth for so many years, but we were looking outside the box for places we don't usually go. We were looking for some acreage. Preferably an acre or two (my theory is if there's too much more then it's too much to look after.) So... knowing what we wanted, we set about looking, and looking hard.

We found a couple of magical spots. There are some established areas where the homes are spread out on a half acre to an acre, the streets are as neat as a pin and the houses themselves are just magnificent with perfect landscaping. That's what I'm aiming for. All this, and only about 7 minutes out of the charming town centre itself.

The estates are rural enough for the kangaroos to come out at dawn and dusk, the birds go mental in the trees and all this only five minutes away from the beautiful coastline and town centre.

We finally got to go to the local cinema for the first time, too. For the 15 or 16 years we have been been visiting this town we had never visited the cinema in the centre of town. Saturday night we did. We saw Iron Man 2. Good flick. Then around 9pm we head back to the farm. Only by this time... it's pitch dark etc and I mention to MOTH (for the third time that day) I really, REALLY don't want to stay there tonight. A rustic outdoor loo, a shower you have to heat the old fashioned way, and a musty house that's been shut up for too long really wasn't doing it for me. So we headed back the 15 minutes into town and sought out somewhere else to stay. Of course, having left things late, it was easier said than done lol. By the time we had a good look around, we found most front receptions of the hotels/motels had shut by 10pm AND if they weren't, they were fully booked (and trust me, Busselton is set up for tourism. There are dozens of hotel/motel/villas/apartments/caravan parks to choose from.) Luckily we ended up finding a small room at a nice hotel for a steal. Fluked it I think. The reason all the hotels/motels etc were booked out was because due to not much forethought, MOTH and I had landed the very weekend the Ironman Triathlon was being hosted. We found out there were 1400 contestants, so include them, family and friends and you can add a population explosion to the place. (And we are SO going to be there for that event next year. It looked so much fun!)

Getting a meal the next morning wasn't easy, either. We tried one place (usually a favorite but it was hopeless. They weren't equipped to deal with the masses of people pouring in) so we went to a restaurant I had wanted to try for a while. The Goose. It was lovely. As I'm sitting there across from MOTH eating my meager breakfast (I pinched a half strip of bacon, half a poached egg, a huge mushroom and half a cooked tomato off his plate for my own breakfast) I noted that among the near-on 200 people in the restaurant eating their own breakfast, there was not one overweight person there. Not one. How was that? There were a lot of Ironman contestants and their families there for brekkie, which in the old days, would have intimidated the heck out of me. This time, I blended right in (I mean by not being horribly overweight, not the fit, ripped part lol.). A huge yay!!

Band news: looks like I'm well entrenched at the weight I am. Doesn't matter what I eat I don't seem to lose or gain weight. I guess this is maintaining, which is ok with me. I'm happy where I am right now. Bit of sliming over the weekend (which is more annoying than anything lol) but other than that, all is good in Band Land.

So, I had a fun, successful weekend. Now to face the week ahead which looks like it's going to be a busy one. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, too.
Love Cara xx

And give the band some time. It might just surprise you with more weight loss.

Sorry you're not losing, but as you said you're not gaining either so that's great. It's just going to be slow because you're so small now.

  16. Ahhh you should have called me!!! We were down south from Friday to Tuesday! We ended up hiring a house in Dunsborough because even 6 months ago we couldn't get a house (that took pooches) in Busso that weekend! Great atmosphere though don't you think?
