Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Is there a band in there?

Hello? Do I actually have a lapband in? I'm wondering lately. I am see-sawing all the time. I have pretty good restriction one day, then the next I can pretty much eat anything. And I do mean anything. Crumpets with honey, intricate salads, steak... did you say steak I hear you ask?

Last night No. 2 son Mason cooked dinner. We had these BIG, FAT, steaks and oh, man were they good. I only managed a third of it but it was as soft as butter, cooked to perfection and it went down a treat. Now I'm torn. Because I can eat all this good stuff I have to get off my butt and do more exercise lol. That isn't such a bad thing in itself except, well, it's exercise and I'm still not in THAT headspace yet and don't know if I ever will be, in an old dogs and new tricks kind of way. I do exercise to a degree, with lots of moving around and walking but to take it up a notch as some of you girls do and do the 5k's and gym, that still eludes me. When I go and see the doc next time, I will need some advice. I love being able to eat all these great things again but I have a feeling with the band, we probably are not meant to which begs the question. Do I need a touch of fill? What to do, what to do?

Going out tonight with MOTH (Man of the House.) Life has been so busy lately we are like ships in the night. So when he suggested we go out to Fremantle for a meal and then drinks after, I'm there. Looking forward to it. Now to decide what to wear. For the first time in years I have so many lovely clothes that I am actually spoiled for choice. Who knew it would come to this? Happy days.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

  1. I feel your pain. Today after a month of feeling like I had a bear trap in my belly I woke up starving and was wide open for most of the day. I am not down an din fact was up to 182. Goodness knows what this band is doing.

I also agree with you over the exercise but being able to eat vs. tighter but not needing to exercise quite so much. I'm in that head space as well....so many dilemmas I thought this band was supposed to be THE answer not opening up a pandoras box of new questions.

    sigh :)

I hope you have a great time on your night out!!

  3. But you only had a small part of the steak, so it's working - perhaps Cara you're at maintenance stage. The only way you'll be able to tell is by letting some time go by, perhaps? I feel the same as you about exercise, I'd rather settle into what I know I can do and forget about the rest... You lead such an active life anyway...

Hope you had a lovely evening - any pics taken of the fashion model???

  5. I have only had one tiny bite of steak in the last 6 months. Not my fav but would surely love a nice tenderloin. I think your head has to catch up that you can eat what you want. If you are hovering around your goal weight then it should be a good thing. If you all of a sudden gained 5 kilos, then the band needs to be tightened. But I don't think that is true. I got the band so I wouldn't gain the weight back. I still want to eat. Somedays like a little piggy and like Tina, somedays are tight as a drum. But I'm not at goal yet and know that food will always be on my mind. Hope you have a fun evening. My DH and I are also going out for dinner and a movie. Will see if I can eat today.

  6. Could Mason come cook steaks at my house? That sounds delectable.

I hope you and MOTH have a fantastic time together, and that your band starts stepping up to the plate soon!

  7. The steak is making me hungry! I can eat anything still so can't relate, but hopefully even though you are eating all foods, it is still LESS. If so, then you are ok I would think...

  9. I think if it's small portions it's OK you're eating some steak and bread. I just think it's letting your head go from losing mode to maintenance that's hard.
I guess only you can decide if you need a little more restriction.

I hope you had a great night out!

  10. I have no problems with steak. Or ground beef. Or chicken. Or bread for that matter. Being able to eat all types of meat without problems is important to me. I don't want to be PBing all over the place.

I think if you make smart choices most of the time, your band will do the rest. If you can toss in some exercise, then great! If not, just keep a closer eye on the not-so-smart choices.
