Date night for MOTH (Man of the House) and I turned into a night on the town and how. It had been a while since we had cut loose and while we always have fun on our own, last night we were craving a little company. So calling on our best friends who we've known for around 23 years the four of us hit Fremantle.
The original restaurant we had decided to go to had since shut down so we took a punt and instead went to a charming little Italian restaurant on High Street called Villa Roma. I always find this the trickest part. How to eat out successfully with a band? Turns out there are ways around everything. This was a great little place. They have a lot of mains serving as entrees as well and Moth never minds us sharing, so we ordered bruchetta and chilli mussels to start. I had one bite of the bruchetta and decided that wasn't going to go down too well, so stuck to about a dozen mussels from the massively heaped plate they served. They went down a treat with a lot of chewing and careful eating. I even managed a little garlic bread dipped in the tomato chilli sauce but feeling that was about to stick, abandoned it.
Next we ordered Veal Masala which we shared as well. The waiter was great. After explaining to him that I couldn't eat a whole mains, he bought out the meal and set two small plates and separate knives and forks so we could take what we wanted. I picked off two small pieces of veal, one thick wedge (which I only took a bite of) and a heap of salad. It was quite funny to look at my small meal (even way less than the entree size... I was going to take a pic to show but forgot because I was on the red wine by then lol... sorry.)
Dessert? That went down so easy, lol. Go figure. I ordered a piece of Bailey's cheesecake which was so light and fluffy it couldn't have got stuck if it tried. Follow that with a cappuccino (and espressos' on top of that for the men) and it was a really great meal.
Around 10.15pm we weren't ready to head home yet so we went to the Esplanade hotel and sat as a group ordering drinks. Live piano music and a couple singing the blues set the mellow mood. I had quite a few cocktails (Margaritas and Cosmopolitans) and then I was in a feeling really happy. Read - a bit drunk. And yet, I've woken up today feeling on top of the world - no hangover thankfully. I'm tired though as we didn't get to bed until 4am.
All dressed up for a night on the town
No coat in this one! I call it - doing the Amy W (though I can't get that toe pointed just right lol.)
Our lovely friends - not sure whats going on with the wrist holding.
MOTH and I
So, all in all a really successful, fun night. I hope you guys had a lovely weekend too.

ReplyDeleteVery nice post - you look lovely! My own version of MOTH (but I call him Scott) and I had a date night tonight too. We did habachi and sushi and as usual, I came home with a box of leftovers, but I love going out to eat and spending time with my husband and enjoying food that I don't have to cook or clean up after!
ReplyDeleteLook at our Sassy, Sexxy Cara.. sounds like an absolutely wonderful time.. I knew you would be dressed to the nines!.. I have problem with the breads and crackers and have just given up on them.. not worth the aggravation of stuckville.
