Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Christmas conundrums

Boy, do I hate Christmas shopping for teenagers - add to the fact they are male and it's double trouble. I think if I had girls this wouldn't be such a problem - girls love anything, well girlie... but men.. pffft, they are hard. Why can't they at least stay little? When the boys were younger (I'm talking about my three teens - well, technically Jake is still a 'young' teen at 13 but since he's difficult to buy for now also, I'm lumping him in there too,) - they were easy to buy for. You could purchase toys till they came out of your ears and still come out on top price wise.... now I have these big kids they are getting harder and harder to buy for. I've had Mason come up with some doozies of suggestions - I would love a crossbow... (uh, don't think so!) ... a large fighting knife? Uh oh, no chance sunshine...Well what about a shotgun? ........ What have MOTH (Man of the House) and I created here? Rambo?? In his defense he wants these things to use at our property down south - a place where he can run free on acreage and hassle the rabbits. But still - why can't he ask for a nice watch lol.

Band wise what's going on? Not much to be honest. I had that .25 of a ml (cc) put in a week or so ago and while it's taken a little edge off my hunger it's still not working as good as it could be. Strangely enough while I PB'd a fair bit before this last fill, I haven't done so once since. Hows that for bum about face? Could be I am aware of eating slowly again and taking small bites.. in hindsight I'm fairly sure that has a lot to do with it. Unfortunately,  I am still not back at that place I was a few months ago where I was not searching for food, in fact I had pretty much lost all interest in it.. and things were looking good. Now I still get hungry (though not as much as a week ago thankfully) and I can still pretty much eat anything.

Last night I made up steak sandwiches for dinner... I toasted the bread, whacked in a whole heap of salad and fried onion and skinny pieces of steak ... and I managed to get this down lol. That said perhaps I should reiterate.  I managed a HALF then I was choccas. I gave the other half to hubbie. But still - should I be able to eat a steak sandwhich? I think not. Thankfully I have another fill appointment on the 18th and hopefully this should sort me out in time for Christmas. At least that's the idea in theory.. let's see if the practical side of it kicks in. I'm a little over losing the same half kilo only to gain it again: especially since I hit my all time low of exactly 26 kilos lost only to whack that half on again. Sheesh.

That's it for me today; boring I know but I haven't got much to say. I'm just running around like a chicken with its head cut off as I finish preparations for Christmas. Buying food, wrapping, ordering pressies (off the net.. how good is this???? love it) and cleaning the house within an inch of it's life. This year MOTH's brother is coming over from America with the whole family. We get to see our little nephew again who we haven't seen in about four years and meet our new one, Kristian who we have never met. It's going to be funny listening to them both talk in American accents in among our Aussie ones. Fun times ahead.

Hope you are all staying sane in the Christmas rush. Will talk to you all again soon. For now, seeya later.

  1. I don't envy shopping for those boys (who are almost men), the only difference is the price tag and how dangerous their toys can be now!

  5. Oh boy, this is what I am in for. My son is turning one next week and my dear brother already said "I don't see any toy guns amongst his toys...a boy really needs a toy gun or at very least a sling shot". My brother is the hunter in our family...I can only imagine what he's going to bring home with his beloved nephew one day...lol.

Oh, I love what you've done with your blog design...very lovely.

  6. Sound like you are a busy lady. We have some real similar things going on with our bands. I feel like I can eat too much. Maybe a fill would be a good thing. Your boys are lucky you are trying to please them Have a great holiday with your family from America.

  7. well hello there-I have noticed that I do get a little hyper aware after a fill, eating more slowly and chewing better. My guess is you are doing that. The down side is what would have been a great fill with your bad habits is not not quite good. Looking on the bright side of that at least for me I can now eat some of the foods I had to give up..I mean some even good for me foods like vegetables and fruit.

Prezzies--I have a few ideas for a maybe smaller present for each of the boys. I had all girls but I have nephews, a brother and brothers in law and we and other family members have given them-tiny remote control cars, nerf foam guns, and solid fuel model rockets. Now they are all toys but even the grown-ups enjoyed each of these at one Christmas or another and played with them with each other. The nerf guns were a blast for all of us bevcause we got in a big shooting match in the house. Found the 'bullets' in the strangest places over the next few days. Since it is summer for you big squirt guns might be fun as well. Just some ideas..not going to solve your problem completely but could ad a bit of fun :)

  11. What a smart new blog! Love it. I'm afraid I cop out with presents, and buy most of them on the internet, having thought about it first. I absolutely hate crowds...
Thank you again for the lovely messages you leave on my blog - the positive vibes are so appreciated.

  12. Cara, love the new blog layout!!!! Your sexy blog chick and mine should get together sometime (yours can bring the flowers and mine will bring the lingerie and nail polish).

So - boys are tough to shop for! Mine are 10 and 8 and already done with the little boy toys. Its all about video games and ipods now, maybe some sports equipment. Luckily I have my 3 year old DD to shop for too - Barbie Dream House here we come!

Half a steak sandwich....I think you need more fill. No way I could get that down with my hefty 7 ccs fill! On the other hand, a diet involving "half" of anything will probably result in weight loss, so you are doing well!

    Thanks for your Bday wishes!

  13. My son was easy and still is as he is a sports nut so anything from his fav teams works for him. Now my son-in-law is my difficult one even when he was a teenager. He hasn't gotten any better....Good luck on all that shopping....

  14. Ha ha! How about getting him one of those really crappy toy crossbows - then when he unwraps it and starts goign mental and then give him what you really got him! He will remember that forever. Sorry, maybe I am just twisted.

Steak sandwich... now cara.... you know me and my band are pretty odd, but there's no way on earth I could do that, and I could do most foodstuffs given a new set of teeth. R U sure 0.25 was all they would give you? Can you get some more? Mind you, if you were full, then maybe not a worry - but the scale... Satan invented scales, I am sure of it.

  15. How fun to have family coming that you having seen in so long! I'm right there with you on this restriction thing. I got my first fill last week and for a couple days could eat very little, then for a few days could eat anything, then got stuck on something I had eaten large amounts of the night before. It's a strange thing.

  16. Cara -- 57+ is so great!! You must feel incredible! I'm looking forward to watching your vlog when I get home tonight (is blocked from my work computer).

On the boys' presents. . do they already have iPods yet? I got my 12 year old nephew an iPod shuffle (about $60) with his name engraved on the back for Christmas. Hopefully that will be suitably cool for him to impress his friends! :)

    xoxoxo,
    Catherine

(And don't worry -- I won't stop posting at goal! Would miss you and my other favorite bandster friends too much!) :)
