Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

24 hours later

I haven't read this book - it's more the title was suited to what I wanted to write about today. I feel much better than I did yesterday. A huge thanks to everyone who tried to give me a bolster and gave suggestions on how to get past this bump in the road.

I know I wrote that I was stressed and feeling out of control - and 24 hours ago I was. Today.... I feel 100 percent. I actually think I was off colour yesterday. I went food shopping and while walking around - and afterwards while home unpacking - I was constantly dizzy. Then I started to feel a little nauseous, my nose started running and I just didn't feel like myself. I thought maybe I had low blood pressure, then it could have been a sugar low - or that I had caught MOTH (Man of the House's) flu but whatever it was, it seems to have passed. (That's one thing I have noticed. Since being banded and losing 70 plus pounds, I do seem healthier. I might get symptoms of a cold or something but it doesn't seem to stick. Must be all the vitamins I shove down my throat.)

I started the day with an UP & GO. Do you guys in the US and UK have these? I'm not sure since it mentions on the box it's the equivalent to two Weetbix and milk. Anyone who's been reading my blog for a long time would remember when I was first banded and on mushies, Weetbix was a staple and I had a lot of questions about the product from other countries. The UP & GO's are high in protein, calcium and have a lot of different vitamins and minerals. They taste nice too - but I usually stick to the banana one's. The others are just too sweet.
Since I can't eat much for breakfast due to a tight band, these are quite good - even if it does takes ages to get through due to drinking it cold (bands don't seem to like cold food much and though I do have a cup of coffee first to 'warm' it up - it doesn't make a lot of difference.)

Lunch was two scrambled eggs with 20 grams of smoked salmon cut finely and sprinkled over the top and dinner - well, dinner wasn't anything. Couldn't seem to keep it down. I did though have a few crackers and cheese and a glass of red wine while watching the Oscars with MOTH (Man of the House.) How was Sandra Bullocks win? She looked like an angel and I was so happy she won. She's such a lovely person. Back to the subject, I also managed to get down a fair whack of the clear liquid - upping my intake again. I've been a bit naughty lately - don't know what that's about because normally I love my water. I think it was because when I was at the nursing home - you don't get a chance to scratch yourself let alone have the means to lug around a water bottle or get to the staff room to take constant swigs from it.

I am puzzled by my band though. I haven't had a fill in about a month or so, so it's not a new fill that's made me too tight. Something has though. I have been struggling a lot lately in keeping food down, which has bought on a fair few PB's. These worry me, because we know when you PB too much you increase the likelihood of a slipped band. This never leaves my mind - so usually I'm ultra careful. I also try to eat healthy but sometimes its harder to eat the good foods more than the bad - as we can all testify. Good news is, due to behaving yesterday -  not snacking between meals and upping my water again - I lost that weight I put on though I do seem to have snagged weight wise on the scale again. I keep seeing the same number each morning - or at least when I lose the few hundred grams I put on... I go right back to this number. But - as I know from past experience - I just have to ride it through. It will go down again at some stage if I focus on what needs doing. That is following the basic rules and moving my bum to do some exercise.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday,
Be good, stay safe
Speak soon

  1. Glad to hear you're feeling better today. I had a year of unexplainable band tightness - think I had 3 or 4 fill removals in a row for no particular reason. Very odd. Hopefully you're back on the right path now though.

    Em :)

PS - I've only ever tasted one Up and Go and thought it tasted like arse :)

  2. I'm glad that you are feeling better. The scale will move soon. My doctor wouldn't give me a fill last time, because she thought I am a little too tight now. Maybe you should check with your doctor to be sure you are not too tight? Don't want to have any problems! Hope you have a great day!

  3. I'm sorry that you had a bad day yesterday, I didn't get to read your blog until today. So glad that you are feeling better!

I wish that we lived closer, to where we could actually get together. I think that we could really be a great support system to each other. More like real friends, rather than just band friends that only communicate via the internet!

  4. Glad today was better for you. Sounds like you're back on track, but perhaps it would be a good idea to call your doctor's office about the tightness and PBs.

What time was it when you watched the Oscars??

  5. Glad that you're feeling better. As others have suggested perhaps a quick check in with your doctor is in order?

    Take care.

  6. My band tightens and loosens when i go up and down 1 to 2 pounds...could that perhaps be the problem? were you on a a tiny upswing in weight? I told my doctor about it he said..you need to get in here when you are on a down and before you start eating again...Of course I rolled my eyes at this and said..not so easy when it takes weeks to get and appointment.

Sounds like you are doing better today. Just take it easy and relax missy :)

by thew way I have been thinking about you heading into fall as I finally get my bursts of spring. Whats going on in your yard?

  8. Hi sunshine! My band is also now tighter than when I got my fill over 2 months ago! Could it be stress? Did you do something to aggravate it? I had a rough PB weekend the weekend before last and I have noticed it being a little tighter since then.

I do not believe we have those up and go's.

  9. Glad you are feeling better. I love love love Weetabix!!! We dont have those drinks in the US unfortunately.
I haveent had a fill in about 2 months and some days I feel I cant eat anything then the next day I feel like I can eat like I used too...so weird but stress can change the restriction!!

  10. So glad you're feeling better. We all have "off" days. It may be that a very tiny bit of fluid removal could help level you out. But the band is certainly making you behave, isn't it? You're so close to your goal ... congrats.
