Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

A helpful hint? Calling all newly banded or about to be banded girls/guys

I had a thought this morning - dangerous I know. I was reading a post from Camille and she mentioned she was trying to find out more information on how she should feel/not feel, what's normal and what's not and how much or little she should be drinking now that she's newly banded.

If you go back in my archives to May 2009 you will find a stack of information from my own experiences. I wrote about how I felt day to day (or every couple of days) and I also included some hints and tips on what I was drinking in those first few days to later on when I graduated to mushies then onto solid food. I included a daily diary for the first month (I think it was a month - or near on at least.) Hopefully, theres something in there everyone can get something out of. I remember when I was first banded it was hard to know what I should or shouldn't be dealing with and I constantly scoured those blogs of women in front of me that had been through what I was now going through. It helped a massive amount. Just thought I would pass this on for you. Hope it helps some :)

All good in the Land Down Under. Weather is turning cooler - yay - and I've had a busy week. Last night was fun. Had an impromptu dinner with friends, left there quite tiddly (we hit the red wine lol) and landed at another friends house to finish the evening. Tonight we head to Fremantle for our friends going away bash. Looking forward to it. A big crowd, food, drinks and great company should ensue.  I'm looking forward to catching up with a lot of faces I haven't seen since newly banded. It should be an interesting experience to see if anyone notices my weight loss (they better!! lol I'm a whole new woman.)

Have a lovely weekend, and catch you all again soon

  1. ohhhhh weeee...have fun with all of the socializing..I have yet to go back and look at where I was early on in this band thing. I never kept a diary as a teenager but its quite cool to have more than a year of regular writing about life and bandiness isn't it?..

  2. Thanks for this post CAra just when I needed it. I am so confused right now. I hate to even say or rather type this out loud but I am not yet 3 days out from surgery and I really don't have the pain that everyone talks about. Yea, a little gas pain in the first 1.5 days but nothing serious. I've only taken the pain meds 2 x to sleep but didn't really need it. I did see the band when I did the barium swallow so I know its there!

I'm going back to May 09 now to see what I can start eating tomorrow as I start full liquids. Thanks again!

  9. Excellent post and if you don't mind, I'm going to steal it. I think reminding people of our posts where we've been where they are is probably really helpful. You may have started a trend here my friend!! Okay, if people don't notice your weight loss, that's just silly. You've lost so much and while you were beautiful before, you're just a slimmer version of that beauty now!! MIss you. When do we roadtrip to Australia??? ;-)

  14. Thanks for directing us newbies to where the great nuggets of information are within your blog. I try to start at the beginning whenever possible of people's blog so I can get their experiences and what worked for them, but it's sometimes hard to find exactly when they got banded. A lot of reading!
