Today I went out on the 'great chewable vitamin hunt'. Did I get far? Nope lol. The best I could come up with after visiting three different chemists was kids multi V chewables but I figure since they're for kids, maybe I won't get all the good stuff an adult needs to get out of them. So I went back to liquid vitamins.
Before I was banded I got some liquid vitamins that the woman at the chemist recommended. Turns out they had hardly any vitamins in them but were very dense in iron. So I had better watch out if I walk past a magnet. This bottle - the one below - seems better, choc full of 17 different kind of body builders but oh jeez, the taste... glurk!!! I might have to start mixing it with water.

Also while I was out I went looking for a tie for Mason. Tomorrow is his Year 11 Dinner/Dance. We have a nice dress shirt and black pants and shoes but do you think I could find a nice solid coloured tie that matched a striped shirt? I traipsed up and down the shopping mall visiting every menswear in sight but no way was I going to pay 50 dollars for a silk tie that he would only wear maybe once. In the end I bit my lip and went to Target. Bingo! Got a lovely one and for 20 bucks. Bargain and its mine... well, his!!
Hows the band going? Thanks for asking. Well, it feels just great, though my weight has come to a screeching halt and I have even put on a few hundred grams ..... that said its TTOTM and it's all par for the course, (still ticks me off though that us women have to deal with the whole weight gain once a bloody month!! lol.) Tomorrow I start week five and I'm a little puzzled as to what I can have food wise now. Is it just more of what I have been eating only thicker or do I start to experiement? As far as I know my band should be secured to my stomach by now ...fingers crossed... so is it ok to start eating properly again with toast and tomatos and stuff like that? My doctor gave me the most scant information.. argh...so anyone with any ideas, they would be most welcome.
Tonight will be my first test eating out also. Dianne, a lovely lady who lives in my area and who was banded a few years ago, invited me to "The Nags Head' (hows that for a name.. pfft) for dinner with a bunch of other bandits. A fair size crowd too from what I gather. I love meeting new people but even at this late stage I'm trying to convince MOTH that we should go. He's a little more shy mingling with people he doesnt know. Will let you know next post whether I managed to get us there lol.
IJust threw this pic in. This cute little bird landed on our alfresco table out back to pick at the crumbs left from breakfast there. Does anyone know what kind it is? I have no idea.
Mushies
Day 27 (LAST DAY I HOPE !!! WHOO)
Breakfast: Coffee and Vitamins: 3/4 cup of porridge, one cup of skim milk... the porridge kept sucking up the milk into this thick mass so I kept adding lol... 2 tspns raw sugar
Lunch: One egg, poached - on 1 tblspn ricotta and 1 tsp tomato sauce
Dinner: 3/4 cup instant mash with 1 tspn sour cream and 1 tspn lite grated cheese mixed through it and 1 small can tuna tempters - satay. It was yum!! One coffee 8.30ish.

I stopped taking vitamins a long time before I should have...naughty me! but it was because I couldn't find any suitable ones...! If you are off mushies now, you can eat anything... just remember to chew, and then after your first fill, go back to mushies for a couple of days till it settles... your surgeon will tell you more.
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't that a picture of a kookaburra? I've never seen one...except on the telly, and they ain't native to the UK...lol
:o)
xx
I thought it was a baby magpie - do you have them? But it probably isn't. I know as much about wildlife as I do about exercise :-)

I thought it was a baby magpie too when the little bird first landed, but its not.. lol and Dawn, no its definitely not a kookaburra. Good guess though xx
ReplyDeleteI take the Swiss Ultivite for Women.... when I remember to anyway. They sit on my desk at work staring at me all day and still I don't remember half the time. Just a week ago I read the directions and found out I'm supposed to have it TWICE a day! Whooops! Even when I remember I only have it once.
ReplyDeleteWell that was a boring story.
I'm no help on the bird situation, sorry!
Em :)
LOL Cara,
ReplyDeleteMy husband has just looked at the picture and he reckons it might be related to the kingfisher family... maybe just smaller than a kookaburra?
:o0
xx
Cara, how would someone in South Dakota be able to tell what kind of bird that is. I love birds but I bet this is a special "down under" bird. I take two Flintstone vitamins every day just for good measure. They taste great.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so well honey! Keep up the great work
