Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

So over winter....

The weather here is just dismal. We have one sunny day, the next is raining (with thunderstorms) then it's sunny-ish, then it rains again. I wish it would make up it's mind. To top it off I think I understand the whole concept of "water torture" now. We have popped a down pipe at the front of the house just outside my study window and we had a veritable waterfall of running water coming down from the gutters - heaps of rain gushing out that did my head in with the racket it made. MOTH rigged up this bright blue pipe that he jammed in the hole where the down pipe should sit, and that worked for a bit as the water ran down it and gushed down into the garden at the side of the house, but now THAT has come loose and I'm back to listening to water pouring onto the concrete driveway. Not to mention the whole duck and dive scenario as I try to get to my car without getting soaked. Sheesh.

I am due for my first fill this time next week - and it can't come soon enough. I am definitely at the stage now where I can eat!!! And I want to. Only self control is keeping the hunger and eating at bay right now. I don't feel like eating sausages or steak or anything like that - but anything else, well its up for grabs. But because I'm still in week four which means I'm still on mushies - blahh - I really have to make a concentrated effort to stick to the rules. I can't say I'm looking forward to that slammin' great needle though. While I no longer have such a bad phobia - having babies tends to get you past that - I once performed for a whole year when I found out the year I turned 14 we had to have a TB jab at school - and I whinged and begged and cried until my mother gave in and said, "Fine. You don't have to have it." I'm still filled with trepidation at what I will have to go through to get that saline in the band though but I know, like everything else I've coped with, I will cope with that too. If you hear an almighty scream echoing throughout the world next Wednesday, no fear. It's just wussy here getting her first fill.

Two quick notes. Natalia - if you're reading this post - your new blog page looks gorgeous.. but I can't leave a comment. It won't let me put one in. Just thought you might like to know in case you're wondering why no one's commenting. And Em from Perth. I can't find your blog full stop :( If you read this, can you guide me to where it is again? Thanks x.

  1. Hey Cara, thanks for the heads-up on not being able to post! I think I have fixed it now, but not really sure :)

I am so with you about wanting to eat everything! I totally want stuff I cant have yet. I am going to have to get me some smoked salmon...it sounds so good every time I read it on your food diary.

  4. Hey Chick'a'Dee, Your first fill has come around quick hasn't it? It doesn't seem all that long ago the band count down '22 more sleeps to go' woz happening. You will come away from your 1st fill going "geeze, that felt like a mozzie bite' lol - it's a breeze - you will be in and out of there before you say "Must Fly MOTH To QLD To Prepare MrsWooFarkinHoo Some Sushi"!!!!!!!

  5. Weather woes, we all have em! It is soooo hot here, in the 100's daily and the humidity is awful. I'm not a big fan of rain, but some coolness here would be terrific. Good job on sticking to the course, Cara, it's ALL about willpower and you're doing great. Keep it up, er, off! :)

  6. Cara, I know what you mean about rain and rain and more rain. It does give one the woes. As for the fill, I have had four and haven't watched or looked at the needle yet. I won't tell you it is a breeze as my blog would explain, but I hope it helps you with the satiety. Take care.

  8. Looks like you're doing REALLY well with your eating -- though I have absolutely no idea what wheatbix is! lol

As for your comment to me on my blog, I'm answering you here because that last post was about my mom, and she reads my blog. :( Sometimes it's harder to not allow parents/family to make you feel inferior sometimes. However, I will try to remember that quote.
