Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

From a walk to a jog!! WHAT THE??

So I behaved myself food wise yesterday - jumped on the scales for my weekly weigh-in and I'm STILL 200 grams (or .2 of a kilo) above what my ticker says. On the plus side it means I dropped 800gms yesterday (HAS to be water weight) but I'm not adjusting that bugger of a ticker till that 200 + grams shifts. It gives me something to shoot for.

Had the best walk this morning. The best!! It was a beautiful fresh morning (I start off at 8.15am to get Riley to school by 8.30) and the air was crisp with just the gentlest breeze - not cold enough to blow condensation from your mouth but cold enough to sting the nose. You know what I mean. Anyway, I was really keeping up the pace this morning. Riley goes quite fast on his scooter so I have to keep up - or die trying. I was two thirds of the way there and suddenly - for some very odd reason - I broke into a jog. OMFG!!!!!!!!! I swear it wasn't even a conscious thought. I was a bit awkward to start but once I got my rhythm it was all uphill.

Then I had really concentrate on my stride because Riley starts singing the theme to Rocky (Da da da da, da da da da da da... Eye of the Tiger - what can I say... all my kids know 80's music due to it's mostly what I listen to) at the top of his lungs as he scoots along side me. I was cracking up while I swatted at him the whole time trying to concentrate. I managed about 12 house lengths ... and because I'm totally lacking in spacial awareness and distance management lol I will try to explain how far that is.. I think it's about 200 metres or just over... I counted my strides and each house ranged from 25 to 40 steps from fence to fence... because here in Australia we have tons of room to fill and the houses have very big frontages. I managed about 12 house lengths!)

I cannot believe I jogged!!! Not once.. but twice... I did it on the way home also. Then got jelly legs, and just walked the rest lol (after a quick bend over to get my breath back.. pah!) Oh, and this time I made the round trip in a half hour!! Cut quite a bit of time off.. GO ME!!!!

We finally got those tickets to Tasmania booked and we are off in JUST OVER THREE WEEKS!!!!! OMGGGGGGOD . I am SO excited.. I can't tell you how excited I am (are you getting it yet that I'm a little excited?? lol) We leave now on the red eye flight at 12.30am on the 15th of September and (this is SUCH a shame... not!!!!) because we couldn't get a flight back when we wanted, we had to stay an extra day. So we head back on the 26th. Just in time for the next round of school hols lol. Timing or what? The motor home is booked (again, couldn't get the original one we wanted but got the next best thing.. its compact but very nice with a flat screen TV and microwave and shower and toilet all in there. WHOO!) Will post lots of pics of MOTH (Man of the House) and I shuttling it round that beautiful part of the country.

Band wise I think I'm doing OK. That initial restriction I felt seems to have waned a lot but I'm paying VERY close attention to what I'm eating and how much. I stick close to that cup no matter how hungry I am. I just want this bitch weight to shift. It would be incredible if I could get into the 80's before we leave for Tasmania, but I'm thinking that might be a stretch considering how slow this weight is now coming off. On the other hand with all the extra exercise I'm doing maybe there's hope. Will just have to wait and see. Oh, and thanks to a fantastic post from Amy I will up my water - again. I keep slacking off in that department.

Brooke asked a question the other day - would I still be taking on such a big move (i.e. picking up the whole family and moving to the other side of Australia) if I hadn't been banded. I would have to say my honest answer would be yes. But it wouldn't have been so much fun as my confidence wouldn't be where it is now.. I would have dreaded a lot of what was about to happen i.e the whole massive move (because a lot of this is mental I think) and well, things are just better all round now! I have this beast (my weight) part way beat.

Shoot another long post. I keep meaning to just write a note here or there, but never seem to manage it. Hope you girls don't get too bored! Must be the writer in me. I'm a word demon.

Adios from moi
Kisses
Cara

  1. Cara, I wasn't sure where the best place to send you a message would be. So, I'm posting here. I've been thinking for a while that -- since postage to Oz is relativey expensive -- it might be fun just to send you one really nice thing to wear.

So, with that in mind, what's on your schedule . . in terms of dressy things or otherwise. . and what sizes do you think might work the best? E-mail me at chroniclesfrombandland@gmail.com. I think the bandster world needs us to expand the Sisterhood of the Traveling Clothes to one of our favorite sisters on another continent!

  2. You jogged?!! Give me a C, give a A, give an R, give me an A, what does that spell....CARA. You must feel elated that you did that and 200 metres first up is great..see told ya it wouldn't take long to get into a routine :) and added surprises to boot.....that weight will start to shift...just keep up your water intake that actually helps with retention.
Looking forward to hearing all about Tassie. I am jealous.
    Hugs xx

  3. GO CARA!!! Wow. I'm thinking that my next goal isn't going to be a weight one, but something more along the line of a 5k or run or something. But, I'm terrified to even think about jumping to that - however, it may be just what I need. You are such an inspiration to me! You go girl...

  4. Well done with the jogging! I have mixed feelings about it - I reckon if God had intended us to jog he wouldn't have given us tits...
Hope you'll be taking pictures of you and Nola together - essential!
