Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Walkin' the walk...

You know, I read on a lot of your girls blogs how you all bounce around the same weight - up a pound, then down, then up two then down again and I find that I'm doing the exact same thing.. and damn if it isn't driving me nuts.

I feel like I have been stuck at the just below half way mark of the 90's (kilos) for weeks and weeks. I record a new low then for some reason (though maybe..just maybe its because of TTOTM for me) I seem to have shot back up. Almost a kilo. I know I had a choccie binge the other day and could be it's caught up with me too - but this morning I felt FAT!! My stomach just felt like I had a bowling ball in there and I knew when I did up my jeans they would cut into me. I do feel like I'm retaining fluid so maybe in a few days things will settle again.. (read they better or I'm taking a hammer to my not-so-best-friend.. the scales!!)

I did that walk to Riley's school the other day. I went like a jackhammer on the way there - it took me 17 minutes - and 24 to get back lol. I was a bit pooped to say the least. This morning the weather was iffy and I just had no energy but I donned my fave purple hoodie and Nike stretch pants, (due to a lot of eye rolling and awww, mum, but you said we would WALK TOGETHER!! from Riley) shuffled into sneakers and hit the road with him on his scooter. I'm a bit buggered again now I'm home but the whole round trip (including getting him into the class with a kiss goodbye) took almost an hour. I guess power walking I won't be doing with a sproglett in tow - and yet I still felt like I had a good stride going. Not too slow anyway.

I left him with instructions - if it's bucketing down with rain then meet me at the front of the school where I usually collect him by car, if not then meet me at the gates nearest his classroom (opposite side of the school which is the shortest route) where we will walk back home together again. But he's nine and well, a kid.... so I can just see some mix up happening and we will be searching for one another. If this does't start shifting the weight then I'm going to throw up my hands in horror and slash my wrists with a blunt knife!

MOTH (Man of the House) and myself got busy yesterday booking tickets to Tasmania. Well, we almost did anyway. We have a flight picked out (the redeye on a Saturday night getting us into Tassie at around 10am due to a stop and changeover of planes in Melbourne.) Once we had nailed down a flight we had to co-ordinate the booking of our wheels. We took a good few hours going through sites on the web looking for a motor home to hire for the time we are there. I figure it will be easier as we will have more freedom to move where we want when we want, rather than have to bother with check-ins and check-outs in hotel/motels. They don't come cheap - I think the best one we found will cost around 1,700 dollars (cos I 'aint going super scummy baby - we need a little luxury!!) but I still think it's cheaper than staying in a nice place and eating out every day (eating at restaurants - my 2nd favorite thing to do after walking into a hotel lobby and going "OOOH.. cos they still give me a kick even after all these years.)

Well, I'm outta here. MOTH is about to take my measurements. A real 'doh' moment. For some reason I didn't do it before banded. Blond or what? Oh well, better late than never as they say. (Am I the queen of cliche's or what!!)

  1. Hey Cara, I feel your pain...only down one pound over the last 4 weeks and its a real BUMMER! The walking should help. I need to get in a routine of doing something - I have been really hit or miss at that lately. Your trip sounds so exciting! I love a good adventure. : )

  2. Definately sounds like TTOTM - retaining fluid etc

    Don't despair :-)

  3. Oh my goodness, Cara, you hit the nail on my head. I need to walk, run, or just get off my a** and do something to change the momentum and start shedding the pounds. Thanks for your motivation.

  4. Any exercise is hard to get used to...give yourself a week of walking and you will be in a routine and it will get easier everytime...and it will shift the weight. and obviously Riley enjoys walking/scootering with you too...

  5. I agree with Roo--do it for a few days, and it will become second nature. Good for you for getting out there in the first place!
