Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

My first milestone...

I was reading another bandsters blog this morning and she mentioned it had been three months since she had first been banded.... her bandiversary. That prompted me to look at my dates (though it's all done for me with my widget... I just hadn't looked in a while) and lo and behold... it's been exactly three months today since I was first banded.

I thought I would take a little time and think about all the things that have changed since I was first introduced to 'Portia.'
1. I have dropped two sizes from my top half - another two from my bottom (half) haha.
2. I can now paint these toenails of mine without coming up for air several times.
3. I have more energy than I thought possible.
4. I sleep better at night - the sleep of the dead.
5. I am thinking of ways to improve myself constantly, whether it be physically or mentally.
6. I am constantly aware of food - sometimes that's good, sometimes bad - but it never leaves me.
7. I have found my cheekbones, knuckles, slimmer fingers, bony knees and a ribcage. And a semblance of hip bones.
8. I sat in a plastic chair the other day and didn't freak out that it might snap and send us both tumbling to the ground.
9. I get compliments often, whether it be from MOTH (Man of the House), my kids, friends, or someone I haven't seen in a while. Even strangers. (That happened the other day. Strange but true.)
10. I'm mixing up my wardrobe. I love to use colours and textures and I'm not afraid they will look stupid.
11. My eyes and skin are looking the best they have for like.. well, forever. Clear and healthy.
12. I'm a happier person all round - which in turns makes me a better wife, mother and friend.
13. The last but by no means the least - it introduced me to the world of blogging and all my new friends. You're my inspiration and we are all in this together!

There has to be a million more things better about losing over 19 kilos (or 42 pounds) but in the name of not boring my fellow blogsters.. let's just say they are all positive. I can't think of one single negative thing about losing this weight. Amen!

A big, big, big, shout out to my wonderful truck-lovin', frequent travellin' and closet fantasy football lovin'  friend of a blogster Kathi who was banded yesterday. (Try saying that fast three times)
Welcome to our world. I hope it brings you everything you dream of.

xx
Cara

  8. I love your positive thinking! AND OH MY GOODNESS - your almost half way!! ITS INSANE! its such an encouragement. It's ok about your son though - because from an 18 year old who only dreams to travel soon one of the most important things is knowing that I have people especially my mum is missing me!!

I think i am going to start doing the optifast tomorrow - I WAY OVER INDULGED these last weeks so I am going to be strict. Back onto calorie king and getting serious

really want to loose 4 kgs before surgery!
