Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

How do you confuse a blond?

You know that old saying: put a blond in a circle and tell her sit in the corner? Well, this blond is having trouble working out just where her restriction sits - and it isn't in the corner thats for sure!

How is it I am hungry - all the time? I have definitely felt a loosening of this band of mine. I can eat more (if I want - but I both don't want to and try not too) and I can slam down that water like no tomorrow. But give me food and hells-bells I'm in trouble.

I seem to be PB a lot. That drives me nuts (but on the plus side I have fun eating and don't gain weight because of it) but that is not the purpose here. I should be able to eat and keep the damn food down! Just recently I had that experience with the chicken and chips - and then two nights ago went out to the Indian restaurant with friends for dinner. I had to get up three times throughout the meal as I couldn't keep anything down. I think I HAD irritated my band through the lunchtime ordeal but because I was so aware this might be the case I went slow.. I mean really slooooowwww.. and still things weren't going well. MOTH (Man of the House) and I even put our heads to good use and called in at the restaurant earlier in the day to pick up a menu and work out what I could eat and not. That didn't help much at all - I just think I made the wrong choice full stop in the food department lol. It was lucky my friends are two of the rare people who know about my band - my girlfriend's mother had it done and I told her because she was one of the rare people I knew would back me and be happy for me - and I think she told her husband lol because he knew all right - but was totally cool about it, even placating me when I came back after yet another trip to the toilets to upchuck!

I had a nice NSV that night too. MOTH and I hadn't seen these friends for a few months and they were both amazed at how much weight I lost - my friend even saying to me: are you stopping at this weight now? You don't look overweight at all ... (she then looked around the restaurant)... then added, actually you look just perfectly normal weight compared to some people. Noice, noice lol. (I'm not sure I agree - I told her I still had 15 kilos to lose and you should have seen her face - it was a 'say what??' look.)

Yesterday was the same food wise for me. No matter what I had.. I either got stuck or barfed some back up... even banana for goodness sake. Okay, so now I've written this down I think I see the problem myself. I have a bit of swelling or irritation through the PB'ing. This makes me think I'm on liquids or mushies today. Let's see how that goes.

I have to get moving! Time to drop Riley to school (and another day lost of walking - we had the WORST thunderstorms here last night - so loud I woke up in fright as a huge one cracked overhead) ...and it''s still raining here now - where did spring go?

Adios from me
See you again soon

  1. Ack, I am annoyed for you. But also glad because this irritation is only temporary.

I am going to keep my fingers crossed for the liquids. I bet that idea will help a lot. Once you're feeling better it'll be back to the old Cara and no pb's or trouble. And then you'll be glad, too!!

Feel better. It's high in sodium but V-8 or a vegetable cocktail can be really refreshing. I also made frozen protein pops and they were a nice change of pace to regular ice pops.

  2. oh my gosh, *sigh* I'm still wiping the tears from laughter because I just saw the pic on your previous post. Oh, I needed a good laugh. You are TOO funny! As for the restriction, I think you're right on - you've irritated the band and going on liquids for a day will help. I've noticed for myself that if I go too long without eating solid foods, I have to ease in very slow and the only way I can get to decent food is to kind of work my way into it. Now that can lead to grazing all day - but if I happen to graze earlier - I find I can eat normal solid food for dinner. If I don't, I have a very hard time eating at dinner - similar, but not as severe, as you described.
One this that has frustrated me lately is the inability to eat vegetables. I can't eat broccoli or a salad. I want a good clean, crisp salad but really have trouble with it b/c of the raw vegetables. I ate a small salad the other night and it took forever. Eat a cookie - no problem at all. I hate that!

  3. Poor Cara - Hopefully laying low with liquids will help the irritation. No one wants an unfill, but I guess if you don't get to a point where you can eat you'll have to decide about that.
    I hope it gets better!!!
    It's raining here too! :(

  5. Cara, Not that I know any more than you but I was told that if you PB or throw up the stomach is irritated and you should go on full liquids for 24 or 48 hours so that the swelling goes down and it is not irritated.
    Good Luck

  6. Cara~Sorry you are having troubles. I agree with the other posters that you probably have good restriction, just the irritation that follows your pb's is effecting you. Hugs!

  7. Love the blond joke! What a relief from feeling so smart right this second, writing a brief about esoteric, over a blond's head, legal things...

Anyway, I think I am a little bit like where you are now. I am having problems with a bunch of things getting stuck, at least earlier in the day. I have not PB'd yet, but as you know I have slimed and been stuck - very uncomfortably - many times. On the other hand, some evenings I can eat and eat with no issues! And my hunger level is totally inconsistent. This seems like a recurring theme with bandsters, the inconsistency.

Liquids sounds like a good idea. I should probably do that too.
