I've had quite the day today. First up - well around 11am - I had my first appointment with the dietitian. She was very nice, but I wonder sometimes, is it mandatory that a dietitian be SO DAMN THIN??? This girl - she was probably around 25, was like a size 8. Tall and sooooo skinny. Pffft to that. That said, she was easy to talk to (and talk I did, poor girl, I think she has cauliflower ears now lol) and she gave me a fair bit of information for when I am first banded, from moving to liquids to purees to mushies and beyond. I'm set to go!Even better, I got the go ahead to have a dinner out with my husband which I am dying to do because it seems in the last 12 months we have missed every major birthday, anniversary and now mothers day with him being away. And I want to fo out for a meal with him and just enjoy the night without worrying!!! (insert stamping of the foot here). I started optifast early and so far (day 9 today) I haven't veered for a second AND it will be too late after banding for the longest time considering we have to ease back into solid food. Soooooo, I'm thinking the week before my op he and I will escape for the evening and I will have a bloody incredible meal ...Then it's back on the bandwagon again the next day. Pooh!
Something exciting happened today, too. I got to meet a lady called Dianne who lives locally. She was pretty damn fantastic and agreed to meet me after I contacted her after reading her blog. Anyway, we had about an hour together before we both had to shoot off to pick the kids up from school, and speaking for myself, I had a blast. We met at this gorgeous newish cafe down by the waterfront where you can sit in big, fat rattan woven kind of chairs and watch the world go by. It was so great to be able to talk to someone face to face who had been there and done that, and she was full of great information and really fun to talk too. We hit it off straight away, so much so, we exchanged numbers to keep in touch. I look forward to catching up with her again. She was so gracious.
Best of all............My husband arrived back home today, too. Poor man is flat out on the couch exhausted as I sit here writing this. Talk about planes, trains and automobiles. To get home to us, he has to take a chopper from the small island he works at to the mainland then catches a commercial plane home to Perth. Then he proceeds to take a taxi to the train station in the CBD and then trains it home to where we live, then gets picked up by myself in the car. It takes him all day - he left at about 8.30am this morning and didn't get home till around 4. So, lucky him (now he's home) will get to have some sleepins. Oh, and he noticed I had lost weight and was chuffed for me. Yay. I have lost five kilos so far in the week of optifast. Whooo to that!!! Bring on next week!!
Chow for now,
Cara
