Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

A tooth is a tooth is a tooth...

I have had the WORST day ever today (how's that for an opening statement.) It seemed everyone in the family was suffering Mondayitis this morning, the kids were slow and hard to get organised, I felt like I was a hundred and fifty and was sluggish and just plain blah.. plus I had a niggling tooth to deal with. Should have sorted that right off the bat.

But no, it's a busy day today. First up I make my shake like I do every morning (after dropping the kids off to school) and what do I promptly do? Manage to break the glass of my my blender by not thinking and putting steaming hot water in to clean it. I hear this craaaack and I'm like.. Oh noooo. Sure enough, theres a lovely spider crack right up the guts and I only bought it last week.  So off I go back to Retravision in the hope of getting it exchanged and the guy tells me it's really not part of the warranty but they will do it anyway. Thankfully. It says right there on the side of the box that its heat resistant. So much for that!

That sorted I head to the shops for more Optifast bars, then I have to run to pick up my son to take him to the hospital for his three monthly diabetic check. This tooth, the one that was niggling, really suddenly started to ark up. Horrendously. By the time we were done - two hours later, I was almost going mad with pain, my face was hot and there was a constant throb that was just pure, exquisite agony. I had already taken four of the strongest over the counter painkillers you can take but they weren't touching it. I dragged my son with me over to the dental clinic on site only to be told that they couldnt see me because I don't have a health card. A big fat Pfft to that.

So I hurridly drop my son back at school and head to the dentist around the corner from me. They were brilliant. They saw me within ten minutes and it seems I have an abcessed tooth. Serves me right for not tending to it when it started niggling on and off a few weeks ago. Typical that we put others before ourselves because I was tempted to call SO many times but always got waylaid by other things happening. Anyway, as I write this I am dosed up on lovely SUPER STRONG painkillers (and antibiotics) that are doing a marvelous job. Can't feel a thing as of now, although I do feel like I'm high... so any mistakes in this blog can be attributed to that... my excuse, I'm sticking with it lol...

This is the other thing. In order to save this one tooth I will have to shell out over 2000 dollars. Can you believe that? It needs a root canal and then will have to be crowned because it's a poor old thing has had some major work done on it over the years and theres nothing left to hold the filling in. My whole operation out of pocket is 2,300 dollars, and one little tooth is 2000? How can that possibly be. I will have to give some thought as to what to do now. Does it stay, or does it go? Just what I need.. not!!! Stupid teeth and stupid nerves.

Anyway, hope things pick up for the rest of the day. Its been crap and can only get better. At least I hope. I jumped on the scales this morning and I'm exactly the same as what I was yesterday. Not an ounce less or more.... hmmm, will have to shake things up to get it moving down again!

Is it a back tooth??...if it is I would just get it out and be done with it..you really don't miss them and it wont show. That is a lot of money!!!! I have a back one playing up at the moment and I feel it is time for the sucker to come out!!

  2. Ooops, busted on the scale front! I hadn't actually thought about that... jumping on the scales each day, but you're right. It's funny, when we are not dieting, well, for me anyway, I rarely jump on the scales and here I am back to old habits. Bugger! Will make a note of that.
And Nola... if you have a tooth playing up, don't leave it like I did, cos, that was a huge mistake. It's been a long, hard day!
P.s Yeah, its a back one.. but getting it out? EEK! Did that with my wisdom teeth and that was horrible. Still undecided. Will let you know :)
