Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Spending.....and more spending

Hi all,

Well today I've had a productive if not expensive day. Went out and had my hair done - it was so badly needed, and I went to the chemist and picked up my optifast for when I start on Friday. That stuff is not cheap - says she who is about to outlay over two thousand dollars to the Surgeon tomorrow lol. I have read and re-read my sheets about staying on the straight and narrow, so I ended up getting the chocolate and vanilla shakes (wanted coffee but they were all out.. bummer) and got some berry bars too.  I also have my diet jelly all ready to rock to add to the vanilla. I hear it's more than palatable that way. We shall see. (Note to self: visit organic fruit and veg shop on Thursday to stock up incase I need something different from the shakes and bars.

I'm looking forward to getting the ball rolling and even played around with the thought I might try one tonight for dinner - just for a tester. I have made a trip into Retravision and got my blender - yay! a nice little sunbeam number that has an ice blitzer built in, and something else I've wanted for ages.... a slow cooker. Double yay! This little sucker is going to get a workout bigtime. Any appliance that cuts down on cooking for me HAS to be a bonus. Oh, and I have some reading to do. I also picked up The Lap-Band Solution by Paul O'Brien today. I have heard good things about this book so I look forward to delving into it first thing. My poor ATM card lol.

Have tried a few times to take a pic of me to put on here. Blahhhh. I don't know. I guess there's a reason I have avoided getting my pic taken over the last few years (I see you nodding your heads in agreement.. oh yeah... I know just what she means!!!!!) I can't seem to get one where my face isnt shiny or if thats ok, my hair looks crap. Sigh. Maybe I will wait until just before the op, when I've lost a few kilos. At least the camera lens should'nt chuck a fit and crack on me. At least I can only hope.

Nothing much else to report. It's a monday so it's just school for the kids and business as usual for me. Though I did find out last night my husband is due back a week today. Whoohooo to that! Speak soon ......

  1. Post a picture and dont worry about it! BECAUSE its only going to get better from here! Then in a few months, you can look back and post another picture and we can see the difference! Blog land is safe for "bad" pictures bc we have all been there, may still be there, etc.
    Love your blender too!

  2. I agree with Amy! I am so glad you got O'Briens book....I must get it out and have another read myself as I seem to be stuck.
I absolutely love my slow cooker....love it!!! I notice they have brought out those packet mixes where you just add meat for the slow cookers.....so they must be getting popular again!
Another thing.....I got vanilla optifast and added flavoured essence to it for a change. I even put brandy essence in one once!! lol Also, just mix up your normal coffee with a bit of boiling water and add it to the vanilla shake....coffee shake:)
I also did banana smoothies using just the vanilla shake and a banana....blueberries, strawberries etc etc I don't think adding some fruit made any bloody different to losing weight:)
