Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Definition of a snagglepuss?

That would be me....

I am off to the dentist today. Oh, joy! And all due to my drink bottle. Who was it again that said water is good for you?

There's an old saying - best laid plans and all that. It definitely applies here. Australia day in this family went down the gurgler in a big way yesterday - and all about two hours before we were due to head off to Perth. I had the chicken cooked and cooling, the esky jam packed with food and drink for the picnic, and was about to jump in the shower to start getting ready when I swung past my desk, picked up my water bottle, took a slug, and knocked the plastic rim against my right front incisor. Then came WHAT THE?'

My veneer came off... AND I swallowed it. ACK! I felt momentary panic then thought hopefully it's  just the corner that I had chipped off. I felt around with my tongue and it didn't feel too bad. WRONG!! Two thirds of the veneer had come away plus some extra .. (thanks to a shonky dentist originally putting a veneer on, with half of it falling off a few weeks later then finishing with him patching it with white tooth covered filling.. which has actually held on quite nicely for around 7 years.) So let me tell you, boys and girls. It was not a good look.

Then came 'the what to do?' Being Australia Day there was nothing open. Not one single place -  and I didn't want to have to travel 55 minutes right at the end of the day to get to an emergency one - it wasn't going to happen logists wise. So I told the kids we would have to forgo the fireworks. They were great - very understanding - but I was the one acting like a 4 year old. I almost stamped my foot in frustration and disappointment lol. Then I had to ring my friend to tell her we couldn't make it - and to double the feelings of bad she said they wouldn't be going now either as her husband wasn't really keen in the first place and were only going because we were. Sigh. Anyway, I managed to get an appointment after lunch today to make me whole again. With any luck I will be able to smile again without placing my hand in front of my mouth.

On better news, it seems the scale has moved a bit. I'm still stuck in the 84 kilo range but I have moved a couple of hundred grams (or half a pound) in the right direction. Still nothing earth shattering but it's the first time I've seen this number and for a tic, the scale went to 83.9 then settled on the original. It's been so long since I moved my ticker I almost forgot how lol. I'm in to see Dr Couch on Monday afternoon, so I think a little fill is in order about now. While the hunger is not killing me and I am still on my cup sized portions which mostly do the trick - I think (you know when you know within yourself that things might be on the move again? It's what I have now.. yipee) that a little bit more will start the ball rolling again. I have 24 pounds left to goal and I am looking forward to starting to knock that off. Hopefully this is the beginning of smashing through that month long plataue. Only time will tell (and me to you  - 'cos I spill everything on here lol.)

Hope you all had a great Tuesday and today being Wednesday, hope it's an even better one.

  8. I went to the dentist yesterday, too. For a cleaning.

I can totally see why you'd be upset! I always have dream about losing my teeth and I know those dreams/fears are super common and it makes sense. Teeth are like a talisman of who and where you are in the world. And I would be feeling pretty cranky if one of mine was damaged before a night out, too.

So glad the scale is moving. That is AWESOME.

  14. I was going to make some joke about taking a bite out of something...but I wont! I hate tooth problems. I have a bonding between my front two teeth that fill up a gap. It breaks every 4 years or so and I feel like my gap is as wide as Madonna's! Hope he does a wonderful job on this one!

  15. I better get to Robert Downey Jr before you get your tooth fixed, or I won't have a chance! Sorry about your sucky Australia Day. That really bites.
