Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

OOPS!

Hahaha! I must be the only person that gains weight after a fill! What the? I have jumping around this scale of mine now for near on three weeks - up a half kilo, down a half kilo. Yesterday I was down, today I'm up.

I did the mini-meal plan just like I said I was going to. My menu for yesterday was:

B: A medium banana
MT: Two thirds of a cup of low fat strawberry yogurt
L: A slice of Kraft cheese wrapped in a slice of deli ham
AT: 5 Ritz crackers and a little of my favorite dip
D: A cup of curried sausages and mashed potato.
Also 1.25 litres of water and my two tablets: centrum and my hair, nail and skin one.

Looking at it, I can see there's maybe not enough protein. I will re-think that one today. I also snuck in a few squares of chocolate. When in Europe, Mitchell sent home ahead of him a box of German chocolates and that arrived yesterday. Bummer. Thankfully the kids have made short work of it and he's put the rest aside for friends and his Oma. Ack! Chocolate - used to be my downfall, not so much now. I was able to just have a little and be satisfied. BUT!!! And I am using Sally from Sally's Journey with Lapband Surgery  as a guide here. Sally is one of our blog friends that has lost a fantastic amount of weight and is now at the maintaining stage. She has a brilliant blog with heaps of helpful information so if you get a chance pop in and have a look. I highly value her opinion.

Anyway, I left a message for her yesterday and she rightly said a whole banana is quite a bit to eat at one sitting. I think so too. This restriction of mine is not what it was. I shouldn't be able to eat lumps of meat (sausages.. small though they were and very well chewed) and whole bananas at one sitting if my restriction is at its peak. I definetely know that now. I am still suffering from a slight hunger and I remember a time months back when I wouldn't even think of eating until about 2pm because I just wasn't interested. I will keep at this 5/6 meals a day for now but I am pretty sure I'm going in a.s.a.p for another top up.

Tamara - you have made a new beautiful blog page but it seems we can't comment on it. Thought I better let you know in case you wondered why nobody was leaving you anything. x

Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Ciao

  1. Ooh I need a fill SO badly!! I'm amazed at how quickly we can lose restriction. It honestly feels like it was overnight. Ugh! Hope we both get to that sweet spot soon. xoxo

  2. One thing i was told about the 3 mini meals is to make sure that your meals are similar in calorie size and protein counts. I do 3 "meals" and 3 "snacks", but I try my hardest to have my morning meal and snack be the same size and my afternoon and evening ones. So I may have a 300 cal meal and a 100 calorie snack (or 200/200) and between the two I aim for 20 protein.

It sounds strange to me, but it honestly works (when I follow it). Also I notice that if I have something high in carbs (like a banana) for breakfast I get hungry. Instead I have half a banana with half and english muffin with peanut butter. It isn't high it protein, but the balance seems to work really well for me.

  3. I live pretty tight so I always hesitate to give advice on whether someone should have a fill or not. I worked up to this tight and got used to it gradually. I cannot even eat half a banana at one sitting. it goes a tad slimy and sticks if i eat more than about 1/3.

Fills have had a huge impact on getting my weight loss moving again so...I always say if the weight ain't shifting do I need a fill? The question then is...how long and how many fills can I have? I haven't reached my limit yet but I worry about it for the next 40 or so pounds.

  4. Cara,

Hi! Thanks for your comments about soda. My blog was a little bit of overkill, I really meant it all tongue in cheek.

Keep us posted on how you're doing with the protein. I'm always looking for easy, yummy sources of protein.

Isn't Sally awesome? Terrific advice, and even better attitude. I think she has very valuable experience to share with us, also.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

  6. Cara, thank you for your kind words of encouragement after my FIL'S loss.

As for the need for another fill, I totally agree! I have only had one & it didn't do anything for me at all!!

I am amazed at how little you eat. I eat much more, but fewer meals & luckily, I am still losing, although much slower than I originally planned. I do however, try to get in a lot of Protein. In fact, most of what I eat is protein.

But saying that, my hair is already starting to fall out (yikes!) & I have very thin, baby fine hair & I really want to try to save as much as I can.

I noticed that you said you were using the Niacin shampoo products, etc. Are you happy with them? I was looking at the products & considering trying them as well. Please let me know what you think of them.
