Is it just a matter of my body going into an extended plateau? And for that matter - how long are they supposed to last in the first place? ..I just don't know...(shrugs shoulders.) I have a feeling though, that I must have been losing inches as I slipped from a size 16 into a 14 without realising it. So for the sake of not spazzing out over the non-movement on the scale I will go with that. Inches are good too!
I was going to wait until I had hit my 30 kilos lost before posting comparison pics but since that might still be a while off and I will have no hope of finding the time to do it once my Aged Care course starts I thought, ahhh, what the heck. So.. here they are. Quite scary to me to see what I once was and will NEVER EVER want to be again. I think I am almost unrecognisable.
113.3 kilos - Early May 2009
93.3 kilos - September '09
113.3 kilos (HOLY HECK!)
20 kilos lost - Sept '09
Me now - 84.5 kilos (or 185.9 pounds) 15th Jan 2010. Sorry for the repeat pic but I don't have the time to do another :)
So, there you have it. Quite the difference - and this is what I have to remind myself of. The scale is stuck and even when it's moving, it's going at a snails pace. But as they say... 'Oh baby, look how far you've come.." I only have to look at the pictures to realise I've come quite a way. And will continue to, IF I can get the scale on the downward slope again lol.
Luv you all
Cara xx

Hi scale twin... I've been stuck between 184 and 186 for quite a while too, though I think it's finally changing -I'm sure it will for you too!
ReplyDeleteCara, that's amazing. You look absolutely fantastic. You're right to focus on the inches and your great progress. Keep doing what you're doing and the pounds (and kilos) will come off. Great job!
ReplyDeleteInches are great!! It means your lean body mass is increasing (and fat is decreasing) no matter what the stupid scale actually says!
ReplyDeleteI have heard that many people hit their "set point" around a 30 BMI (sometimes higher). From what I have gather your body thinks it has hit a "good" weight and wants to stick there. My doctor's office warned us about this and said not to get discouraged. If you stick to it your body will eventually "reset" and you will start to lose. You might want to continue with the strategies you have so your body gets out of its comfort zone and resets sooner.
Love the pictures! Those jeans look great on you! I can't even imagine being in a size 10US (which I think is your 14). Heck I can't even imagine being in a 14US. Congrats!
beautiful changes, cara :)
ReplyDeleteFirst off, you look FANTASTIC, Cara!!! Omg!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, don't spazz about the scale (yeah, yeah, I spazz all the time, so you will need to shake ME by the shoulders here shortly). Keep track of your inches. Since you have dropped inches, you are tightening up and losing fat while gaining muscle. But yes, I've been on a plateau for some time. I won't tell you how long so you don't spazz further. Partly it's been my own fault, but partly it's just plateau. Keep doing what you're doing and the scale will catch up.
Way to go!!!
Wow Cara!! You look like a younger, thinner sister compared to the before pics! You look fabulous! don't worry, the weight will start coming off again soon. At least you are still losing inches!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! You are beautiful! Your before and after pics are a true inspiration. My guess is about your issue is that you are replacing the fat that you're losing with muscle. Keep it up, you are doing great. By the way, blue is DEFINITELY your color!
ReplyDeleteWow you look amazing! That is a fantastic difference - you look like a compeltely different person and you look so much younger in your recent pics!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteOuch. I just fell off my chair about the changes you made, don't startle me like that next time! (Ha ha!)
ReplyDeleteJust kidding - you look so terrific and I LOVE LOVE those bootleg jeans in the last shot.
As for the plateau, I just don't even know what to say except good on you for taking out the measuring tape and keep doing what you're doing for another week and see what happens?
I feel your pain. Plateaus can be grueling.
argh. Hang in there..
Cara, you are getting so skinny! lol You know I have had my drama regarding that dayum scale. Weighing once a week definately helped me until mine moved, perhaps you can ask someone to hide yours ? lol
ReplyDeleteCara - you look to happy and healthy! I know it's hard to be patient but the scale will move again; just keep doing what you're doing because it's obviously worked. Take care.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! you look gorgeous!

What amazing pics...you have come so far. I know the scale sucks right now but stay with it, it will move, it has too
ReplyDeleteYou look great!!!
Cara~I'm loving the comparison pics. You look so fabulous and are a big inspiration for the band. HUGS
ReplyDeleteHOLY SUGAR BOTTOMS Cara !! My God that is amazing !! You look so happy and healthy and its funny but you can tell in the full lenght pic that you seem to be accesorizing and playing around more about what you're wearing now !! Way to go girl !! Keep it going and yes inches are a very good thing !!
ReplyDeleteCara what a wonderful transformation.. hang in there the scale will budge. sometimes the body just needs to catch up to the weight loss.. be well
ReplyDeleteYou're so adorable in your skinny jeans in that last pic! And you crack me up with that post title! I think my scale might be broken too! ha!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I dont ever even remember you being that size! Did you post those pictures when you first started? The difference is amazing....really it is! I just have always pictured you as thin I think.
ReplyDeleteHow much more do you want to lose? Translate the 11.2 kg for me. Maybe the weight loss will just be slower now bc you are getting closer to goal and getting nice and smoking hot!
Cara,
ReplyDeleteYou look great and have made such good progress.
In the past when I would lose a bit of weight I would vow never to regain but always did. We can honestly say this time with the exception of normal fluctuations that we'll never see those old numbers again.
In my opinion, inches are even more important than kilos. Muscle weighs more so can't always depend on the scale for progress anyway. You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! and boy what a difference between your before pictures and after ones. I love those jeans on you!
ReplyDeleteCara - you are gorgeous!! Those pics are such an affirmation that this band DOES work!!! I'm sure with all that you are doing, the scale will start creeping down again!!
ReplyDeleteBTW - thanks for the sweet words on my blog!! I appreciate them!!
Wow Cara you look AMAZING! SO SKINNY! I agree, the jeans look great, and I love the blue sweater!
ReplyDeleteI am right with you. I figured out that the scale has not moved really since the end of December! So 3 weeks here too. Frustrating, but I am just going to keep doing what I'm doing until I get a fill next week.
You are absolutely stunning! You were always beautiful, but dang, woman, you are stunning!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work - scale be damned. ;)
Amy
Don't talk to me about your 3 week plateau - I was stuck on one for 6 months! hahahaha. Seriously though, you will be losing cms, toning up etc with the exercise so try not to stress so much. The weight will keep dropping. Are you drinking 2L water a day by the way? I find that helps a lot. You must be pleased with the differences in the photos though - that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteOMG!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't post before today as I was on the dumb blackberry....
YOU ARE JUST DANG BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
xoxo
Stunning!
ReplyDeleteWoweee....even your eyes have opened up!!! Congrats on such an amazing result
