Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.

Oh what a night... tralalalala

First up are some pics of moi. As I dressed up for MOTH's (Man of the House) and my night out - I decided that the blue dress WAS far too dressy.. new little top over the top or not. BUT.. I did get a pic of myself in it just for you guys. You will see what I mean when you look at the picture - the long flowing aspect of it for here in Perth (unless you are going somewhere super dressy) just wasn't working. Besides, I think I need to lose more off my boobs. I look very top-heavy, which made me self-conscious lol AND I need an all over tan. The bits that hide under clothes during summer were very white.

Since I wasn't wearing the dress out now this is what I ended up going out in. The moment I threw it together I felt comfortable and now ready for my night out!  I'm wearing my new size 14 (US 10) bootleg jeans, and one of the new tops that tie up in different ways. I felt sexy, strong and ready to party!

In the end MOTH and I covered a lot of ground last night. We had an evening full of wine, and food and walking but alas.. no dancing. Unless you want to go to a club here in Perth (think full of late teen or 20 somethings....) then your chances are slim. We decided against the Sapphire Lounge. It sounded nice on the net but in real life - it looked like a bit of a dive. Anyway.....

We started out having drinks at the Windsor Hotel in South Perth. Met the lovely Emma and her fiancĂ©e Craig. We all seemed to click really well and we regaled each other of stories of travel, and sickness (poor Em has had some horrible experiences becoming ill while traveling - this started when she asked after Mitch and his experience lol.) Em is so tiny. She really is. And she looked uber cute in her little short dress. It was fun and I hope we do it again.

Not sure what I was doing here - probably telling Moth off about something lol.

That's better - settled now and we smile for the camera
After we left Emma and Craig, we headed into Subiaco. We had dinner at a Tapas Bar - a great little place called Pure Bar. We had never been to a Tapas Bar before but under Emma's recommendation we decided to try one. They are great for us that are banded - little plates of food for around 5 to 11 dollars a plate. I loved the food! It was clean, and fresh and carb free... or at least would have been if MOTH and I hadn't ordered the Turkish Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar dip lol. We ate blanched asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, meatballs in a spicy sauce and scallops as well. Kind of reminded us of the nouveau cuisine of the 80's. Just little amounts of food! We also had a glass of red wine each.

Then we wandered for a bit. Walked the streets and soaked in the sultry summer night. We found this lovely Turkish Restaurant and decided to stop for a coffee. Neither Moth or I had ever tried a Turkish coffee before but we were up for anything. We've had espresso and this was very similar, except for the consistency. It was thicker than the usual roasted coffee and very strong. You could have stood a teaspoon in it lol. We also ordered a shared plate of dessert - lots of different Turkish delicacies. Yum.

Moth trying to decide what to have for dessert

Little teeny-tiny cups of Turkish coffee

Having decided to forgo the Sapphire Club we then went in hunt of somewhere to have another drink. We hopped in the car and headed back towards Fremantle. Because MOTH  decided to wing it (typical male - never stopped to look at the mapbook), we got rather lost on the way there. But it was fun. We found a few new suburbs we never knew where there! We ended up at The Left Bank - a rocking little pub atmosphere that was filled to the brim with girls and guys of all ages. We stayed for a few hours then headed home around 1pm. Then collapsed in tiredness. But what a fun night.

This was the view from the front of the hotel. That's the Swan River across the road.  Gorgeous views - especially at night with all the boats on the water and the lights.

In my last post MandaPanda asked what Norri-rolls are? Manda, they are a Japanese food that is usually made in a log style and cut into five or six pieces. It's seaweed on the outside and filled with a sticky rice and usually some other type of filling. Crab, or seafood of any kind, vegetarian (carrot and/or cucumber slivers) etc.. I had terraki chicken (because I can't eat crab, crayfish or prawn - I'm allergic.) Very yum - and though very healthy, just not too band friendly as I found out the hard way.

I'v added a few pics of the white little stretchy number I bought at the same time as the blue one in the pics above. Both in a 14! WHOOO. I am seriously thinking about getting the Jade green one too, they are just so handy. This is how you can wear them. Such a great little addition to any wardrobe.

Wear it loose and draped - would look way better over a dress though and not over my jammie top and bottoms lol

Tie it in front and let it hang - this actually is the nicest way I think - it drapes just beautifully

Or Just tie it in front like I did last night

Before I go I just want to quickly share something else.. a NSV of sorts... or at least hopefully it should lead to one. I have looked EVERYWHERE for a Zumba class to take here where I live as what you girls are doing sounds just fantastic. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have caught on just yet. So instead I went out and purchased a DVD of Latin Dance moves. It's broken up into 10 minute segments where you can just do one section if you want (hey, a 10 min dance segment should be doable - even for me lol) or if you want do all five at once (haha.. I would die I think..) and get a great 50 min workout. I love Latin music.. there's something so sexy about it and I'm hoping I can dance my way to losing some more weight. Wish me luck!!

Hope you all have a fab weekend. I'm off to run Mason to a birthday bbq bash then home to a quite house. Everyone is off doing their own thing. Yippee!!

  3. Sounds like you had a really good time!! Your dress looks great on you too. It really brings out the color in your eyes.

I also loved the outfit that you ended up wearing. I am always casual myself. I especially loved the blue cover up top. The color is beautiful on you!!

The Norri-Rolls looks to me like some form of Sushi. I couldn't tell you exactly, since I don't eat it, nor any form of seafood/fish. But that is how they make some Sushi.

As for the Latin Exercise DVD. I too bought one to try! I haven't had the courage to try it yet though. The one I bought was (and don't laugh), Dancing With The Stars, Latin Cardio Dance.

I used to love to dance & was quite good at it too. But with my Arthritis & Spinal issues, etc, I just haven't been able to dance anymore. Even dancing a slow dance with DH kills me. But I thought that maybe I could go slow & build my strength again!! I figured it couldn't hurt!! The walking has definitely helped!

    Have a great weekend!!

  4. In England those versatile and flattering items of clothing are known as shrugs. I adore them, though don't feel I've lost enough weight yet to wear them. But I will when the time comes, in every shade and texture I can find. You looked simply wonderful in your blue one, ditto white. Don't you find that if you feel good in something and like what you see in the mirror, it has a powerful effect on how you behave and how much you enjoy yourself? You've come a long way Cara - you and your husband make a very handsome couple.
