I was going through my diary this morning - trying to figure out what needed doing when in the next few days and I came across this entry - Dr Hill - 15th Jan 2010 - FRIDAY!!!! What the???? Here I was thinking I only had a week to go before I saw the good doctor and I was out by two days.
This of course was horrible news. Soooooo... I took a chance. I rang the surgery this morning and got the 'nice receptionist.' She listened patiently as I explained my dilemma. I told her I was so over drinking loads of water to stave off the hunger.. I had cancelled my pre-Xmas appointment and was now regretting it as I have no restriction .. *cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth.........*
As luck would have it, she came through for me! Taking pity she said, while Dr Hill wasn't back until next week.. Dr Couch was in.. and furthermore... there was a cancellation for 2.30pm today. Did I want it? I think I blew out her eardrum as I went..."Yes! Yes! Yes! lol. Lucky she saw the humor (and my desperation) and laughed her head off. So, all my whinging about no restriction should be put to rest as of today. I'm going hard and fast and I am going to wheedle for a good fill. If I can keep this wonderful feeling of being able to eat - coupled with the flicking of fingers in a 'hunger be gone!!' motion.. then I'm gonna be a happy camper. Wish me luck!
The NSV came to me today while after showering. Many eons ago when I was a bigger girl.. (oh ok.. seven months lol who's counting!!) I went and got MOTH (Man of the House) and I some new towels. These weren't any ordinary towels. These were MAN-SIZED towels. Big old bath sheets. Huge, and fluffy and good to wrap around me oh, maybe once and a half. Well, this morning, I was doing the drying off thing and the only towel available was .. shock.. horror.. one of the kids 'normal' size towels. I eyed it.. gave a pfft (cos I wanted MY BIG TOWEL lol) and used it. THEN without thinking, wrapped it around me, tucked it in and went all googly eyed. HOLY SHIT!! A normal towel wrapped around me, with plenty to spare and no gaping! That said, it barely skimmed my whatsit (now there was a good look.. memo to self.. DO NOT BEND OVER!! ) So...... now I know I have joined that elite club ... those who use normal sized towels and can hereby wrap themselves up mummy like and keep it that way. What a great moment!
I have been making more moves on this Aged Care Cert III bizzo, too. Tomorrow I head into this place called Job Seeker. Due to the fact I am re-entering the workforce, the government has put into action a way of helping us mums who want to do just that. They will pay for part of the course training. I have so far ticked all the boxes to get help. The course isn't cheap at just under two thousand dollars so whatever help I can get, then I'm diggin' it! I have done up my resume (it's a little lean lol) and asked a billion questions and pecked those in the know half to death about what needs doing to get myself started. So at least I feel somewhat prepared. It's a little tricky to figure out if I can get help with the payments (and all the red tape that goes with that), sort a course date to start (2nd Feb is what I'm aiming for.. places open notwithstanding,) and getting my national police clearance sorted. Story to be continued..........
Much love

wooohooooooooo the towel. I am so jealous.
ReplyDeleteI had one in a hotel go around me in Germany when I was there in October. I wanted to steal it soooo bad but I resisted (the cleaning ladies watch you like a hawk!!).
When I got home I tried one of ours..Nope either the front gaps or I moon those in my vicinity. Obviously they make their towels bigger in Germany :)...
woohoooooooooo for youuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Tina
yea for your fill!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool about the towel - it really is the little things isn't it. :)
Glad you were able to get a fill today. I am so jealous. Still waiting, my appt for my second fill is on 1/28.....Congrats on the towel, that is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI had bought me & my hubby giant bath sheet beach towels and now I regret it as I was bigger then but now they just seem so bulky to lug around.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately still have a little gaping with the normal towels but so far at least I can still see my toes (although not for much longer LOL)
Good news re fill and the course :-)
CONGRATS on the towel victory! And the progress on your course. And the fill. You're on a roll, Cara. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThere are so my NSV's that we never think about. I am used to errr "sticking out" when I use a normal towel, I have forgotten that normal weight people don't do that! Something else to look forward to. How does the new fill feel?
ReplyDeleteYour blog is always such a delight to read! I'm starting my day with a good chuckle. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWOW! The towel NSV is super-duper cool. It really is the little things that make this journey.
ReplyDeleteAnd double yeah for the fill!
And triple yeah for getting back into the land of the working - I applaud you.
Amy
Yay for Dashy!! A normal towel is awesome, opens your options, so to speak...
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the fill-- good for you for being a model banding patient-- out of the green zone, in for a fill she goes.
You are my personal hero and I will follow in your successful footsteps!!
xo Vanessa
I noticed that the other day with one of our bath towels. I don't even know when that happened!!!! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteit's the small things in life (normal towels fitting us) that make us smile!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteCara~That's such a GREAT NSV!! I can't wait for that to happen to me. I'm stalking your blog to hear about your fill :P
ReplyDeleteOH! Congrats on the NSV! I'm still Huge Towel Land but that's one thing I'm looking forward to, especially when travelling. Sounds like you're moving right along in your new career. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great NSV! I can't wait to wrap a towel around me and walk around...thats gotta be an amazing feeling. and Congrats on the fill, mine is tomorrow and I can't wait! Here is hoping we both get fills that will get us great restriction!
ReplyDeleteI so hear ya about the fill! I had one scheduled for Dec 30th and the dr had to reschedule and because of my travel schedule I cant get in to see him till Jan 26th - so I am fighting the hunger beast as well. Hope yours goes well and that you see some good restriction from it. Congrats on the towel wrap! It doesnt take much to make us happy does it?
ReplyDeleteLoved this post.. a towel that doesn't fit like a washcloth around your bod..
ReplyDeleteI am soooo excited and interested in hearing about your fill experience and how it now feels... please do post as soon as you can.. I too am feeling a bit desperate and in need of some tightening..
The towel NSV is so major!! Congratulations on that and on your fill appointment!! I know how great I felt when I realized a towel fit around me, and I bet you're walking around smiling today!!
ReplyDeletexoxoxo,
Catherine
Wow Cara - that is awesome news! Both on the appointment front AND the towel front!!!! How amazing... Aren't the NSV's the best part of this? (well, ok the weight loss is too, but...)
ReplyDeleteGreat NSV!!! We just got some of those HUGH towels & I thought to myself that hopefully I won't need them in a few months down the road! By the way - will you teach my that "finger Flick" thingee???
ReplyDeleteHey there Cara, congrats on the towel, it must feel liberating! Also, good luck with the aged care cert. You know I have applied for a university position this year to start my journey to become a midwife, and part of my placement [if I get in] this year is in aged care. We will be able to compare notes...lol.
ReplyDeleteAll the best my friend,
Tracey
Love that NSV! I am going to go take a shower and pay attention to how my towel fits!
ReplyDeleteTotal score with the fill! And way to go with joining the working world!
Cara why not go back to doing Pilates so we can commiserate together?
You have given me a brilliant idea. Now I want a brand new fluffy towel to be my "inspiration towel". Hmmm, what color should I get?
ReplyDeleteCara..LMAO !!! I love the towel bit !! And you know Im gonna go try this now right ?!!! Good job lady, keep it up you're doing fantastic and hope that this fill gives you that extra boost !
