Have you ever looked at a gravestone? On it you will find the date a person was born - and the date that person died. In between is a dash. This small symbol signifies a persons whole existence. When it comes time for my dash to be chipped in, I want to know I lived a full and wondrous life.
Hey I think I'm getting it....at least for now
My food intake of late - at least up until a few days ago - has been a bit all over the place. But now I have that mini-goal in sight I have been trying extra hard to curb all the extra naughty night time behavior (I'm talking food!... like biscuits etc in front of the television lol) Last night I was good.
Reason I put my times and the food I have during the day is to show those girls who are early bandits what your food intake (and eating times) might become like as you inch closer to that sweet spot. My days seem pretty regular with the times (have been for a week or so) so I guess this is where my breakfast, lunch and dinner sit for now. Here's yesterdays menu (and the times I ate.. as you can see I have breakfast almost at lunch time.. lol a little strange I know) Oh.. and I meant to add. I always drink around 2 litres of water a day and have my Centrum multivitamin as well.
9am(ish) - One coffee, hilo milk, no sugar
11.30am - One bowl of 'Just Right' with a medium banana, hilo milk, no sugar
2.30pm - One coffee (same as above)
3.30pm - 3/4 cup of instant mashed potato, 190g tin of sundried tomato and basil tuna, 1 tblsn lite sour
cream
7pm - Small bandit bowl of curry vegetables and chicken with a dollop of instant mashed potato
9pm - Coffee and an apple
I have since found out the instant mashed potato actually has way more protein in them than normal mash. Plus it's quick and easy and tastes better than the lumpy spuds I usually manage to serve up! And this is something else. In the past we would have had a plate of JUST the curry and rice... but last night everyone in the family got smaller servings and I had a mix of vegies on the side. I was happy I thought of doing it because..well, sometimes.. even now.. I forget I can substitute or lower portions and take up the slack with the vegies. Hopefully this is a turn for the better where I'm actually planning for a change. Stranger things have happened.
Bye from moi

Cara - that is very interesting about the instant mashed potatoes! I'm not sure I can bring myself to do the "fake" but if there is more protein, I may have to try it! Thanks for all the kind words and support. I just love our bandster group!
ReplyDeletewe love instant potatoes here. so much easier to cook for our large family. i'll have to get a stash for work so i can whip some up for lunch. great tip!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info Cara, very helpful to baby bandits like me who are trying to figure it all out!
ReplyDeleteNow here is my question - do you measure out your small portion and eat just that amount because you are supposed to or because you can't eat any more than that? Without much restriction I find I can eat more than I need to & need to be more aware of portion size.
Cara- Just saw your comment asking what string cheese is. Its basically cheese in the form of a stick, like the size of a celery stick. It's called string cheese because you can peel it and eat it like string. They have low fat versions, and they have about 8gms of protein, so its an easy way to get some protein in throughout the day! Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThere's some darn good info in this post! We're instant potatoes kind of people around here but when I was on my mushy diet I made huge batches of real potatoes because I do *prefer* real potatoes and what I whip up is actually decent, lol. I just don't like cooking all the time and we have potatoes often in our house, unfortunately. :) Thanks for the info!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same faith in you that you have in me. :) You can do it! When I'm sitting around and want something sweet, now I reach for sugar-free Jell-O or sugar-free pudding. Don't know if that would help...
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are on track and you'll be at your mini-goal in no time. Also, thanks for the tip on mashed potatoes!
ReplyDeleteNever had the instants. I may have to give them a try though. I am always looking for something quick and easy...oh, and healthy!
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the mashed potatoes.
ReplyDeleteBut here's the most fascinating thing: You drink coffee at 9 pm? Is that decaf?
lol No.. not decaf.. I guess I'm lucky.. my head hits the pillow and I'm out for the count.. coffee or no coffee.
ReplyDeleteI was not aware of that info about the instant mashed potatoes - good to know!
ReplyDeleteEm :)
If you would like some protein packed mashed potatoes that taste deliciously sinful and yet are delightfully light and healthy mash reduced fat feta into them. They'll end up with more protein in them than carbs even and they are SOOO DAMNNN YUMMY!
