I had rung Rose on the Friday to double-check they were still due to come round.. yup, everything was still going ahead as planned. As we got talking, Rose let drop that she had also been busy: turns out she's lost 26 kilos in the year since I have seen her. I was gobsmacked and estatic for her. She gave a laugh when I started babbling on about how now I couldn't wait - even more - for tomorrow night (the Saturday) and she then threw me with: 'So I had a dream about you a few months ago. I dreamed that you had lost a bunch of weight, too. About 20 kilos." What the?? Talk about a physic link. (We have always been able to do this with one another.. it's kind of spooky.. but when you've known each other as long as we have, I guess anything is possible lol) I was like.. YES!!I have been busy too and I have lost around that amount. We hung up both doubly excited at seeing each other the next day.
Saturday was busy: getting ready for the get together etc. Both MOTH and I were so tired and we put our heads down at about 1pm to grab a small nap (we know our friends well - they are stayers and we wouldn't be getting to bed early that night!! lol) and because we had been up at 6am to get Mason to Morley (an hours drive away) for a training day for his new job. On the way back we swung through the city and stopped at the Dome Cafe for breakfast. A large cappucino each hit the spot and we ordered a shared meal of Eggs Benedict. I ignored the bread underneath completely, focused on the eggs and ham and only managed 6 bites before I knew I wasn't going to get anymore down. It was great to be in the city though at such an early hour. The cafe was full to bursting and we just soaked up the chatter.
We got busted during our nap later that day. Instead of coming round at 5pm like I thought they were, Rose and Mark pulled up at 2pm - with 2 full eskies in hand. By this I mean they had five bottles of champas and loads of Guiness and beer. MOTH and I were sleepy eyed and I hadn't washed my hair or dressed or anything: so much for making a first 20+ kilos down impression. It didn't matter though.. I got things together quick enough and we ended up having one of the best nights I can remember. Rose and I drunk far too much champange and the men laid their ears back on the Guiness. So my guess is Rose and Mark feel as crap as MOTH and I do this morning. MOTH is still in bed and it's 11.30am lol. Lucky its a Sunday.
So how did Rose look 26 kilos down? Frigging amazing!!! Beautiful, fresh, glowing. She took my breath away at how amazing she looked. I just couldn't stop hugging her and telling her how brilliant she is. And she was the same with me. At sometime during the night, Mark got me on my own and became all emotional at how incredible he thought I had done. How different I looked... how sexy!! lol (Bear in mind - he was full of booze!!!) It was so sweet but funny. He kept going on about how proud he was of us both and how amazing we were. And you know what - we are! Two women getting together who have been through so much thoughout the years and now have a new outlook on life. We rocked!
PS I ended up telling them both about the band. As it turned out, Rose's brother had it done about 6 months ago and they were very familiar with it. I had put off telling her about it straight away as she walked in the door though - I wanted to work up to it and then it kind of all fell into place when they started talking about her brother. I stuck my hand up and said: I joined that route of weight-loss, too. It spun them out for a second and then away we went. They were both proud of me for taking the initive and understood completely that what works for one person (aka dieting without the band) doesn't necessarily work for another. Rose has lost her weight through eating high protein and leafy greens etc. There is a name for it but I can't remember right now. Not the Atkins one - that is full of fat.. but something that sounded marginally similar. When I ask her again I will let you know. Whatever she is doing......it's working. What a brilliant night!!
Rose and I - check out the flushed chest from the champagne! lol
The terrible foursome
Till next time

ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love to have a nip, and so try not to go too far, but every now and then, oh my! I feel for you, but sounds like you have the best time ever and it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteCara- I'm so glad you had a great time. It's nice that all 4 of you get along. It's always hard to find couples to do stuff with because two people may get along, but spouses don't.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in that black & white dress.
