Did I wake up sore this morning........ ouch, ouch, ouch. I decided to get my bum into gear and start my walking again - because between going to Tasmania, then two weeks of kids school hols, I have been flat out and not taking the time to do much at all (exercise wise, I mean.) Anyway, as usual with me, it's an all or nothing kind of situation. I went down to this park on the beach - it's about a k's walk from my house and mucked around on the fitness equipment they have set up down there. Did some sit-ups and push-ups (or let's just say I tried lol), ran the circuit (the whole time hoiking my leggings up... that's next on the 'must buy' list) and trying to ignore the passer-byes as they whizzed by in their cars. THEN I walked .. really, really fast for a half hour. By the afternoon, I could barely move lol. This morning, I felt stiff and sore but pushed on with another walk.. this time for 40 mins but took it slower. Amazing what a couple of weeks break does - my muscles were SO not used to being used again.
So, i went in for my fill yesterday and I will never, ever say anything bad about the fills my Doc does. There was this new Doc in the room with Dr Couch when I walked in... and after we were introduced he stayed as we went through the Q & A, the weighing and everything else. Then Dr Couch asked if it would be alright if the new guy did my fill as he is in the learning stages... (of what i ask ya'? Practicing on us as guinea pigs??) I said... ..um, sure (while my mind went WTF!!!.. HELL NO!) You don't realise just how good your doc is until someone different does it. This new guy was all fumbly and took forever and it stung like the beejeezus! Usually Dr Couch has it done in like 30 seconds tops. I really hope I don't get asked that again as I'm probably saying no... it wasn't pleasant and I had visions of him missing the port, especially when I had to lift my head AND feet this time and Doc C announces the ports slightly tipped down.
Had a delightful PB episode in the car today, thanks to my .5ml fill. Thankfully it wasn't a big one.. but I was doing a lot of running around with Riley after I picked him up from school, and as usual, he's starving. So we pop into a Jesters store for a sate-chicken pie for him and I grab a tiny sausage roll with sauce for me. Bad idea. I had the common sense to eat it in the car before we took off again but the traffic was really heavy and we got caught. Bad news.. because then it starts. There's a bit of sneezing (for some reason this is a sign of things to come!) then the frothing backs up, then that feeling of wanting to burp yet not being able to and it took me like four minutes before I could find a park. I fairly left skid marks on the road as I zipped into the spot. Then up she comes.. straight into Riley's empty Jesters Pie bag lol. I guess this restriction is back working again. I haven't felt too hungry today but my eating has been a bit sporadic, too. My band does not like anything too dense or heavy in texture even if I chew like a madwoman.
I went out to lunch yesterday with a friend at the shopping centre here, then after she left to go back to work I continued on to do a little clothes shopping. I was looking for a great pair of jeans and a new dress.. I wanted something summery I could just throw on.. it had to be light and cool. Well, I ended up forgoing the jeans when I instead found a denim skirt, also finding, to my surprise, that I have a decent pair of legs .... at least from the knees down. I also found this gorgeous black and white dress which you can dress up or down (it's been forever since I have worn dresses during summer - I usually stick with jeans or something similar) and the summery one I was after. The best part is..... they were all in size 16's (that's a 14 in the US). Every single piece of clothing fit, even the ones I tried on and discarded. I was on cloud nine. It's so amazing to just walk into a shop and pick up something off the rack.
Here in Australia, the 'normal' sized clothing stops at 16 and then you have to go the plus sizes,18 and up. It's so brilliant I don't have to wander the 'Hot Options' clothing section in Kmart and Target anymore. Even the little boutiques stop at 16, and sometimes even a 14, which really isn't that big. That bites, but for me at least now, it's just a joyful thing to wander in and know I will most likely find something that fits. And it will only get better. And here's something interesting (I have noticed it before but this really struck home yesterday.) Before we left for Tasmania, I had my eye on these racks of dresses in Kmart. Little wafty things, A-line style that float all the way down to your ankles. Just perfect with a pair of flat shoes or sandals. Anyway, due to lack of time I never ended up getting one. When I was looking for that summery dress yesterday I went back and managed to find them. Only thing is.. there was not one single size 14 or 16. I went through about 30 dresses in different colours and styles and every single one was a 10 or 12. Goes to show that the majority of women are now a 14 or higher. Not that that is really news.
Oh, and I brought a new bra. My old ones are sadly lacking now ... I can slip a hand inside between my boobs and the material (sigh) .. that's how much I've lost there. Good news is I have gone down from a 20DD to a 16F. Cup size is still overly large but the girl mentioned I had very little back fat (uh... thanks) and the new size fits just fine. Amazing how a good bra can change the whole look of an outfit, especially since the new bra has a special section inside to slip these little pillow like things that mold to your shape and give you wicked cleavage. Rocking!! I ended up spending almost as much on that black lacy bra as I did on the skirt and one dress. And MOTH's eyes almost popped when he saw me wearing it. lmao.
This is the 1st dress - looks better on when it's all filled out.
Cute little summery dress
Ready for my lunch date
Well I'm off to check what's on tonight at the new cinema that's just opened. MOTH and I have found ourselves absolutely kid free tonight with all three doing something that takes them away for the night. WHOO.. so we are off to the movies. Want to a catch a 9pm showing. Hope you all had a lovely Friday and an even better weekend.
Speak soon.
Cara xx

Ah Jesters in Perth - me and my hubby use to go there all the time when we lived in WA. I miss pretty Perth!! and our beautiful pb stories.......hehehe you have to laugh :-)
ReplyDeleteCute dresses. And you look awesome!
ReplyDeleteHere in the states our stores are the same -- women's sizes begin at 18 as well. It's like a little NSV when you can "graduate" from one department to the other. lol
ReplyDeleteAs for your PBing episode, HATE those. But I have to say, something caught my attention about that. If I read it right, you had the sausage the day after your fill. I know many doctors are different, but does your doctor have any rules for the period right after your fill? I know mine does -- the day of and day after, liquids only; then mushies for two days; then regular food on the fifth day. The theory is that the stomach swells even with small fills, and this eases it back and puts less stress on it right after a fill. I'm assuming your doctor doesn't suggest this?
Hey Beth,
ReplyDeleteActually my Doc, while REALLY strict immediately after being banded, making us gradually progressing to real food after 6 weeks, is quite relaxed about after a fill. I only have to have mushies (or soft foods as he calls it) for 24 hours after the fill. I had it done at 11.30am and this didn't happen till 4pmish the next day lol. But you might have something with the swelling. That sausage roll sure didn't go down too well.
Cara - you look fanbandtastic! The dresses are very cute :).
ReplyDelete"fanbandtastic"- I like it!

ReplyDeleteCara you look gorgeous as always!! I love those dresses - would love to see some pictures with you wearing them!!! I have found that I can not eat sausage rolls at all since my last fill (6.25mls) ends in disaster every time!!
